Elden Ring” is among those role-playing games where you can participate in various quests. If you have plenty of time, you might want to complete Ranni’s questline, one of the longest in the game.

Ranni’s questline is not so much a side quest but more of a parallel pursuit. This quest is laden with lore and will bring you across most of the Lands Between within the many hours it will take you to complete it. The quest also unlocks an alternate to the game, plus several other rewards. This guide shall discuss how you can complete Ranni’s questline.

Who Is Ranni The Witch?

Ranni the Witch is a non-player character in “Elden Ring.” She is described as a mysterious figure who initially introduces herself as Renna. But, if you meet her again at Three Sisters, she will reveal her true name and eventually will recruit you into her servitude, sending you off in search of a hidden treasure, which is Rannis’ questline, actually.

How To Start Ranni’s Quest

To start Ranni’s questline, you must first head to the Caria Manor, located in West Liurnia’s northern part. On your way up the road, you must speak with Iji, the giant blacksmith. You will understand why you need to talk to him later on.

Then, proceed inside the manor, navigate it, and watch out for those terrifying hand monsters that will come across you. After the Troll Knight on the stairs, you will arrive at a vast room with chairs surrounding a pool.

Here, you shall fight Loretta. It is tricky to defeat her, so take the time to do so before heading out to the garden. Here, there are three towers: Renna’s Rise, Ranni’s Rise, and Seluvis’ Rise. You should proceed to Ranni’s Rise.

Go all the way to the stop, then speak with Ranni to begin your search for the lost city of Nokron. Afterward, return downstairs to talk to the other members of your delightful little band. Blaidd shall tell you he is making his way to Siofra River to search for Nokron and to meet with him there.

Guide To Finding Nokron

Afterward, you must proceed to the Siofra River through the Siofra River Well. You will then find Blaidd further inside the underground region. Now you must speak with him. He will explain he can see Nokron up above, but he couldn’t find a way to reach it. Then, follow these steps:

  • Proceed to Iji on the road leading to the manor. Talk to him about Renna, Nokron, and Blaidd.
  • After doing so, proceed to Seluvis’ Rise to get the potion for Nepheli as you ask about Nokron. Seluvis shall then hand you a letter of introduction to Sorceress Sellen.
  • Proceed to the Waypoint Ruins of East Limgrave.
  • Lastly, defeat Mad Pumpkin Head in the basement to unlock Sellen, then hand her the letter. She’ll tell you to beat and kill Radahn.

Killing Radahn

Now this is one of the most complex parts of this questline, if not the hardest. Proceed to the fort at Caelid’s most southeasterly point. Sprint past the defenses of Redmane Castle with Torrent, then jump around the right past the troll at the gate to sneak up. Eventually, you will find yourself in the Chamber outside the Plaza Site of Grace. Here’s the good news. By doing this part of the quest, you have actually skipped a difficult boss. In the next chamber where that boss should have been are the contestants for the festival, including Alexander (the Iron Fist) and Blaidd.

Head up and speak with Jerren before you use the lift and the portal to enter the boss. Here are some tips to beat a horrible boss that is Radahn.

  • Avoid summoning other players.
  • Instead, summon NPCs throughout the bout using the signs that will reappear once they die.
  • The NPCs shall bring your enemy into melee. Let it be while you dodge his ranged attacks at a distance. This shall keep him from using the more vigorous and undodgeable rain-of-arrows attack.
  • Using scarlet rot or sorcery will be your best option to chip away Radahn from a distance.
  • If you are using melee, wait for his combos to finish before you sprint with Torrent to charge attack his rear and horse. You can also maximize your attacks’ power by using some talismans, such as the Axe Talisman, Lance Talisman, or the Blue Dancer Charm.
  • There is a second phase from your enemy where he will be back as strong as a flaming meteor. He will also summon four asteroids around him. And, as he rides away from you, he will fire them. Watch out for this phase, dodge these attacks, or simply stay near the ridge crest so that you can make use of the hill to block them.

After beating Radahn, and he is dead, the stars will return. One of them shall fall to the earth in East Limgrave.

Locating The Fingerslaying Blade For Ranni In Nokron

This time, you should proceed to East Limgrave’s south section. Here, you will find a mound of floating rubble, as well as a crater. You must go through the crater to enter Nokron. Make your way through this area, past the Mimic Tear boss, and then into the forest with the ancestral warriors.

Next, find the Site of Grace, as shown in the image below. This shall give you access to the Night’s Sacred Ground by jumping across rooftops. In the center of this spot, below the gigantic finger reader sitting on the throne, you will see the Fingerslayer Blade inside a chest.

Hand the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni at Ranni’s Rise. Then, she will give you the Carian Inverted Statue. This shall unlock the Carian Study Hall.

Exploring Nokstella And Acquiring The Discarded Palace Key

Upon setting at a Site of Grace, you will be able to proceed to Renna’s Rise, which was previously inaccessible. Here, there is a portal that will bring you to Ainsel River. Nearby, you will find the Miniature Ranni Doll. Now you must bring this to a grace and speak with it until it responds. The doll will tell you to go to Nokstella to kill some shades.

Make your way beneath the meteor-shooting star beast, then through Nokstella until you descend an elevator leading to a garden with ant-riding Nox monks. Proceed right to find another elevator going to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin grace. Then, sprint past the Basilisks to find Blaidd invading you. Kill him. After that, Ranni shall thank you and hand you the Discarded Palace Key. Proceed to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library where you encountered Rennala. Open the chest where the Dark Moon Ring is.

Lake Of Rot And Astel

From the spot where you battled with Blaidd, proceed into the Lake of Rot. You can stand on the switches so platforms would appear. But, the best way is to make a beeline toward the huge doorway on the right side, provided you have sufficient flasks to stay alive. You’ll find a grace just beyond this doorway. Using the ledges nearby, descend to where the Pests are gathered below. Remember, do not proceed to the room at the end. Instead, proceed left to the stone coffin by the waterfall. Climb in, then wait.

A cutscene will show up, and you will find yourself outside a fog door. Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, is also somewhat challenging to defeat. Your best bet is to smack him right in his face with jumping attacks, if you can, to stagger him. However, you must remain aware of his Areas of Effect and pincer grabs. Once you’ve defeated Astel and he is dead, proceed to the elevator.

Last Parts: The Moonlight Altar And The Dark Moon Greatsword

You’ve reached the last parts of the quest. Head up from the elevator toward to big cathedral you can see. A dragon boss will spawn that you can be in battle, but you can choose not to and simply run inside.

At the Cathedral of Manus Celes’ center, you will find a hole in the floor. Go in and descend. Inside, you will spot Ranni and some very dead fingers. A cutscene will then initiate where you put the Dark Moon Ring around Ranni’s finger. She will thank you for being her champion. After she disappears from your view, the Dark Moon Greatsword shall show up before you. Congratulations!

Final Words

Ranni’s questline, albeit one of the longest in “Elden Ring,” is worth your time and effort. Why? First, you will glean some valuable lore. Then, you will also acquire even more useful loot. Finally, you will have various endings available to you. Go ahead and take the challenge.
