Crossovers with Stranger Things and Rambo are revealed in an overview of the post-launch content for Far Cry 6. Players will go to the tropical paradise of Yara in the next edition of Ubisoft’s open-world first-person shooter franchise, where they will face combat against the island’s evil tyrant Anton Castillo. Far Cry 6 is supposed to stretch the franchise’s boundaries in terms of gameplay and plot, providing players a huge environment to explore and a compelling adversary to defeat.
Dani Rojas, a freedom fighter attempting to overturn Anton Castillo’s cruel tyranny, will star in Far Cry 6, and his struggle for resistance will inspire the game’s plot and gameplay. Dani will join up with a like-minded rebel organization, and their battle against a large military takeover will compel them to rely on deception rather than overwhelming weaponry.
Because guerrilla warfare is Dani’s only hope of surviving against Castillo’s strong force, Far Cry 6 will place a premium on combat skill and resourcefulness. Players will be able to prepare for every circumstance with a variety of customizable weaponry, and stealth will play a major part once again.
With various expansions starring the villains from previous chapters, post-launch DLC promises to inject even more havoc to the series’ sixth iteration. Far Cry 6’s DLC roadmap includes Far Cry 3’s famous and crazy Vaas, Far Cry 4’s quirky Pagan Min, and Far Cry 5’s cult leader Joseph Seed, as well as a season pass of material.
A Far Cry 6 Post-Launch Overview Trailer, uploaded to Ubisoft North America’s YouTube account, provides players a deeper look at upcoming crossovers in the game. Following the October 7 release of Far Cry 6, regular free content in the form of single-player and two-player cooperative missions will be introduced to the game.
Three crossover missions will be included in this free DLC, introducing intriguing guest stars to the jungles of Yara. In the first crossover assignment, Danny Trejo, best known for his macho performances in films like Con Air and Machete, will link up with Dani Rojas. The second mission will be a Rambo crossover, with players taking on the role of a rabid fan of the Sylvester Stallone films. Finally, a third mission will introduce Ubisoft’s first-person shooter with the scary 80s classic Stranger Things.
In recent years, franchise crossovers have grown increasingly common in video games, with titles like Fortnite continuously bringing in new characters from other kinds of media. Due to the character’s prominence as an action legend, Sylvester Stallone’s iconic portrayal as John Rambo appears to be particularly prone to these crossovers.
Rambo had a post-launch DLC guest fighter debut in Mortal Kombat 11, and he most recently featured in Black Ops Cold War as a character skin with Bruce Willis’ character John McClane from the Die Hard franchise.
Far Cry 6 is shaping up to be the franchise’s most ambitious entry yet, with a slew of additional content set to keep the game developing for quite some time. Crossover missions will be a first for the franchise, and once players finish the main plot, this new content should serve as a breath of fresh air. Players should be able to overcome any difficulty that Far Cry 6 throws their way with the indomitable Danny Trejo by their side.
