According to Square Enix, the Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster will be released on Steam and mobile devices on September 8, 2021. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games, with new visuals that mimic the NES and SNES games’ pixel art aesthetic.
The first three Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games were published as a single bundle, with the next three Final Fantasy games set to be released at a later date. Square Enix has just confirmed that FF4 Pixel Remaster will be released on September 8 for PC and mobile devices.
The game is available for pre-order on Steam, with a 20% pre-order discount valid until September 23. Pre-ordering the game will get you three tracks from the soundtrack as well as two downloadable wallpapers.
FF4 is one of the greatest entries in the series, as well as one of the most popular in Japan, which may explain why it has had so many rereleases, especially in comparison to FF5 and FF6. The FF4 Pixel Remaster is based on the 1991 original version of the game, thus it won’t include any of the subsequent Final Fantasy remakes’ additional material, such as the massive post-story updates in the Game Boy Advance edition of the game.
