Forza Horizon 4 Will No More Have New Additional Content

The developer has stated that fresh Forza Horizon 4 content will be phased out as it prepares for the release of Forza Horizon 5, the next game in the series. Since its debut in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 has received many updates and enhancements to the core game, including a Forza LEGO expansion and an Xbox Series X/S upgrade in 2020. Season 37 of the game will launch on June 29, bringing new challenges and cars to an all-new playlist.

Forza Horizon 4 is widely regarded as one of the finest racing games of the previous console generation, with a Metacritic score of 92. The game contains a dynamic weather system and an open environment for players to explore alone or with companions.

Forza Horizon 5, the next game in the series, is set to arrive later this year and is anticipated to build on its predecessor’s already excellent gameplay. While Forza Horizon 4 is set in the United Kingdom, the next game will be situated in Mexico, with “ever-evolving open-world environments,” according to Xbox. Forza Horizon 5 was awarded “Most Anticipated Game” of the event after its unveiling during the Xbox Showcase at E3 2021.

Playground Games highlighted the future of Forza Horizon 4, as well as the next game in the series, in the latest Forza Monthly video update, stating that Forza Horizon 5 is currently the studio’s top focus [via VGC].

Forza Horizon 4’s monthly series updates will be altered, according to Playground senior producer Tom Butcher, who stated: “Players who are familiar with the game will notice the return of content from Series 7 through 32 starting with Series update 38.

Consider it a mixtape with the return of some of your favorite material as well as the addition of some new features.” While there are no plans to introduce new vehicles or features in the next months, he did confirm that gamers won’t be short of content:

“Although we aren’t planning to add all-new cars and features over these next months, you should have a lot of fun revisiting these moments and seeing how you handle them the second time around. And obviously with all of our recent Series updates, you’ll have photo challenges, rewards, Forzathon Shop, and backstage voting all going on as well as usual.”

When asked if the game will get updates beyond Forza Horizon 5, Butcher said, “We do intend to make sure Forza Horizon 4 continues to be a great experience, but we aren’t ready to disclose precise plans just yet.”

While Forza Horizon 4’s future is unknown, all eyes are on Forza Horizon 5. Despite the fact that the game is only a few months away from release, Microsoft has already released the PC specifications. Despite its stunning visuals, it appears like Forza Horizon 5 will operate on nearly any gaming PC as long as it is at least a few years old. The game was created with the new-gen Xbox Series X/S consoles in mind, but it appears that it will also operate on older Xbox One systems, giving more gamers access to the game at launch.

Fable is another highly anticipated project being developed by Playground Games. The return of Fable was initially announced in 2020 with a brief teaser trailer that revealed virtually little. Gamers were hoped for another installment in the series, but it appears that the next Fable will be a reboot rather than a sequel.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, Microsoft characterizes the game as “a new beginning for the famous franchise,” implying that it isn’t a continuation of the previous tale. The game has yet to be given a release date or even a year, but it will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer told gamers to “have faith” in Playground Games’ take on the Fable franchise, noting that the team is “just amazing”.
