The sequel to “Dying Light,” “Dying Light 2,” was launched just this year as a survival horror game. It was developed and published by Techland. The creators released the game for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

“Dying Light 2” refers to your action role-playing survival horror game that features a zombie apocalyptic-themed open world. Set around two decades, 22 years specifically after “Dying Light,” it stars a new protagonist named Aiden Caldwell, who possesses different parkour skills. Players can perform actions such as sliding, climbing ledges, leaping off from edges, and wall running to quickly navigate the city of Villedor, where the game is set. Villedor is a massive urban open world set in Europe that players can freely explore.

Having learned all about those, things can get really exciting while playing the “Dying Light 2” game. But when you need to pause playing to grab some snacks or attend to a more important matter, you will need to save the game. In this article, we find out how you can save “Dying Light 2.” Read on.

How To Save The Gameplay In ‘Dying Light 2’

Early on, we bring you the good news. The game frequently saves, and there are a few ways to trigger the autosave to ensure you will not lose any progress.

“Dying Light 2” will autosave every time you complete a quest, mission, or an objective. Meaning to say, you can rest easy knowing you can save your progress periodically as you fulfill missions. But, if you need to end your playing session or are done for the day, there are many other ways to save the game.

Can You Manually Save The Game?

Unfortunately, we hate to tell you this, “Dying Light 2” does not have any manual save feature, nor does it let you use any external saving options to back up your data. However, you can implement some ways to save your “Dying Light 2” game data throughout the gameplay. Here are how you can manually trigger the saving options – the closest methods to “manually” saving the game.

Completing A Mission Or Quest

You learned this a while ago, and we will reiterate it again. You can autosave your game progress whenever you complete a quest or mission. This gives you leverage and contentment that all your missions will be automatically saved in your drive.

Fast Traveling

Another way to manually trigger the autosave features of “Dying Light 2” is by fast traveling. However, this feature can only be unlocked only after you earn it at a later stage. But once you unlock it, you can easily utilize fast traveling to save your data in the game.

Sleeping On A Bed

Here, “Dying Light 2” does it creatively. If you are done for the day and wish to leave the game, for now, you can sleep on a bed. It will mark the end of your gaming day, and all your “Dying Light 2” progress will be saved. You can find these beds located in Safe Zones across the map. Beds are marked with green-colored icons so you can quickly locate them.

Going To Hideouts And Settlements

Hideouts and settlements also offer a great alternative to saving your “Dying Light 2” game. Take advantage of these to save your data and then continue once you return.

Activating And Using A Safe House

As the name implies, the Safe House provides you a medium to save your game data by, what else, using these Safe Houses. But to enjoy this perk, you need to have a Safe House around you (obviously). Only then can you use them to save your game progress.

However, all the options you learned about above can only be used when certain circumstances are fulfilled. You cannot save your game as you wish at any moment. For instance, while Safe Zones can ensure you save your “Dying Light 2” data, they are never easy to spot and unlock. Thus, keep a close eye out for all these saving options you can take advantage of as you move forward into the game.

How To Load A Previously Saved ‘Dying Light 2’ Game

It is suggested (and this is always better) to save your “Dying Light 2” progress continuously so you can continue whenever you want from the moment you leave. Not saving your game will result in losing all the weapons you have repaired, all the money, and all the XP you have earned. This is where you do not want to be.

While launching or booting the game, it will automatically be redirected to a previously saved game. However, if you wish to select any particular Saved Mode, follow these steps.

  1. Players on PCs can access their saved files through their Steam app by using this method. First, launch the Steam Program.
  2. Second, click on the Library tab.
  3. Third, locate “Dying Light 2.”
  4. Fourth, right-click and choose Properties.
  5. Fifth, in the Properties menu, click on the Local Files tab.
  6. Sixth, select Browse Local Files.
  7. Finally, you can launch the saved files of “Dying Light 2” from there.

Rest Mode And Quick Resume On PlayStation 5 And Xbox

If you quit your game without letting it save, keep in mind that you will lose all your progress. To avoid this, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have this feature that will let players shut down their consoles in a hurry and continue where they left off.

For Xbox Series X/S

A Quick Resume feature on this console allows you to resume your game if you somehow accidentally left it in a hurry. With this feature, your last played game gets stored temporarily, and then you can play your last played game.

Xbox will allow players to store up to five games at a time, so they can continue where they left off without running into any issues.

For PlayStation 5

On PS5, you can likewise resume your last played game. However, the console only allows just one save at a time. Thus, only the last played game will be on your saved drive.

P.S.: In case of a power cut or shutdown, there is a possibility of losing your quick resume “Dying Light 2” data.
