“Hunter X Hunter” is such a classic and phenomenal anime that it is just precise, not an overstatement or understatement, to say that several anime fans worldwide worship it. It isn’t as young as the animes today and is old enough to gain a cult following among those in their anime-viewing prime in 2011 when the first “Hunter X Hunter” episode aired.
This anime tells the story of its main protagonist, Gon Freecss, as he works his very best to become a full-fledged hunter while searching for his father, whom he doesn’t even remember. But aside from Freecss, there’s this group of characters in “Hunter X Hunter” who are equally as famous (or infamous, at that), the Phantom Troupe. We’ll rank every Phantom Troupe member in this list according to their brawns or strength. Excited? Let’s get to it!
But First, Who Are The Phantom Troupe?
The Phantom Troupe is a terrifying group (think of a gang) in the story of “Hunter X Hunter.” This group has some of the worst thieves and strongest Nen users in the anime’s world. Nen is the anime’s term for a superpower.
The Troupe has 13 members with an ever-changing roster. But currently, there are only 10 members.
The Strongest: Chrollo Lucifer
Yes, Chrollo Lucifer is the strongest member, no doubt. His name itself speaks of immense strength, albeit being evil. His Specialist Nen type defines his career track – his Skill Hunter does not just allow him to steal other’s Nens but also totally master them. Just wow.
In 2nd Place: Hisoka Morow
Hisoka Morow may be a former member of the Phantom Troupe (he isn’t in the current roster), but he is among the most mysterious characters in the anime. This cryptic clown that will remind you of “The Batman’s” Joker lives to fight. He is the persona of both an antihero and a villain.
He only has two Nen techniques in his arsenal, but he doesn’t need more. His Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise are enough to stun their receivers.
The Rest Of The Members, From The Strongest
Feitan Portor
Feitan Portor incorporates his dangerous Nen ability with Emission, Conjuration, and Transmutation. Those are powerful, but those are not all. His Zetsu, Ren, Gyo, and Ten (techniques) are unconquerable. Portor is best known for his Rising Sun and Pain Packer.
For instance, Rising Sun is his technique that ridiculously overpowers and affects everything in his surroundings. It generates copious amounts of heat, vaporizing everything within its range.
Illumi Zoldyck
Up next is Illumi Zoldyck. His Nen aura is touted as nightmarishly ominous (words from a cookie ad?). For instance, with a single glare, he can terrify Killua Zoldyck, a supporting character in the anime. Illumi has four iconic Nen capabilities: Body Transformation, Needle People, Hypnotic Spell, and Corpse Control – each more fearful than the next.
Uvogin
Uvogin is currently dead in the story of “Hunter X Hunter,” so let’s take this as a tribute to him. Uvogin is “the Wolverine of ‘Hunter X Hunter.’ His ostensibly durable skin is immune to heat, bullets, and every other kind of damage.
He has this power called Big Bang Impact, which is so cataclysmic as it produces so much energy that it can leave a gigantic crater in the ground. Just don’t put in head-to-head with Wolverine, the Hulk, or Beast. Otherwise, the world will shatter.
Phinks Magcub
Interestingly, Phinks Magcub rarely depends on his Nen powers, as he is exceptionally proficient in unarmed combat. He can assassinate a wide range of Mafia guards, get this, without revealing his location. He can also easily outpace Killua and annihilate the Chimera Ant Gorilla. Aside from being a competent Enhancer, Magcub also displays a high level of understanding of Ryu, Zetsu, Gyo, Ten, and Ren.
Nobunaga Hazama
If “Hunter X Hunter” were an anime set in Japan’s Edo era, Nobunaga Hazama would be the highlight. Known for his swordsmanship skills and being a self-proclaimed laido prodigy, his katana movements are all but i
If Hunter x Hunter were set during Japan’s Edo period, then Nobunaga Hazama would unquestionably be among the top five combatants in the story. His swordsmanship skills alone put him a notch above his comrades. As a self-proclaimed Iaido virtuoso, Nobunaga’s katana movements are all but indiscernible.
Kalluto Zoldyck
Here’s another Zoldyck on this list. While he isn’t as mighty as Killua, his elder brother, Kalluto, showcases a range of breathtaking superpowers. For instance, he can plant untraceable wiretaps on his chosen targets, get this, without alerting them or even the various Phantom Troupe members. Unbelievable.
Franklin Bordeau
Sounds French, eh? Yes. Don’t be fooled by Franklin Bordeau’s looks. He may appear stature and stern, but deep inside, he is belligerent and bloodthirsty. His Nen exclusively relies on Emission. His Double Machine Gun unleashes Nen missiles that fly through his fingertips at ultrasonic speed, allowing him to defeat his enemies in seconds. He even further takes this to the next level by deliberately sawing off his fingertips. This way, he can rid himself of any subconscious Nen restrictions.
Shizuku Murasaki
Aside from almost beating Freecss in an arm wrestling match, Shizuku Murasaki is also a skilled parkour artist. Furthermore, she relies more on tactical foresight rather than brute force. Though she is a Conjurer technically, her Nen construct is incredibly specialized. She has Blinky, an aura-based vacuum cleaner that can suck up nearly every object and material known to humankind. If you find it hard to clean your home, you might want to have Blinky.
The others are Bonolenov Ndong, Machi Komacine, Pakunoda, Shalnark, and Kortopi.
If you are a fan of “Hunter X Hunter” and want to get to know more about the Phantom Troupe, be sure to keep this story with you. Have fun watching “Hunter X Hunter”!
