Netflix’s Unscripted Dating Series ‘Perfect Match’ Officially Set For Season 3!

Just a few days after Season 2 ended, Netflix confirmed that a third season for “Perfect Match” is underway. Though short-lived and while others said it was “boring,” airing only 10 episodes squeezed from June 7th to June 21st, this second season ranked in the Global Top 10 for TV three weeks following its premiere earlier this month. It was successful. 

“Perfect Match” is the top-rating unscripted dating reality series on Netflix, one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms. In the show, singles from the platform’s popular reality shows, such as “Love is Blind” and “Too Hot to Handle,” team up as couples and go through the fire to test their relationships.

The participants engage in compatibility challenges. Winning couples are bestowed power. If they are, they bring in new singles and match them with their castmates. This either stirs up potential romantic matches or creates trouble in paradise or the “Perfect Match” villa. These couples compete to be the strongest and win the title of the Perfect Match. 

Over the stars of the show, perhaps the biggest highlight of Season 2 was the fact it was hosted by none other than 98 Degrees lead singer Nick Lachey, who has hosted shows in the past such as NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” “Miss USA,” and Nickelodeon’s “America’s Most Musical Family,” among others.

Now, here’s some good news for “Perfect Match” fans. A brand-new third season is coming your way. Yes. 

There is no official release date yet, which is normal since the announcement was just made recently. But considering the gap between the first two seasons, it is likely that you’ll see Season 3 in 2025 at the most.

Some media outlets also doubt if Lachey will reprise his role as host for Season 3 since he has so many projects lined up by the time the upcoming season is filmed. 

As for the cast, we can only base news on scenes during the previous seasons. For instance, Harry Jowsey, a YouTuber who competed in Season 2 but lost, suggested his pal Justin be part of the show. 

Then, there’s Xanthi, who also didn’t manage to win but expressed her desire to return to the villa and offered Emma from “Love is Blind: UK” to join her. 

Fans are also bringing up the name of Amber Desiree from “Love is Blind” to participate in Season 3.

It might seem only the older gamers will be familiar with CRPGs. They partly carry the name of RPGs, but they are different. CRPGs stand for computer role-playing games. This term was adapted to distinguish them from the classic TTRPGs or tabletop role-playing games. 

CRPGs attempt to mimic the experience of a classic RPG but on a computer. Also, another difference is that there is no Dungeon Master or other players involved initially. A CRPG has a self-contained story in either a familiar setting or an original world setting. 

However, in a gaming world filled with third-person and first-person RPGs, CRPGs were long believed to be a dead genre, primarily by AAA game developers and publishers.

But there’s a twist. From 2013 onward, the CRPG genre seemed to have resurrected or experienced a Renaissance. Avid gamers would agree. So, for those who miss the legacy of CRPGs, here are today’s best games in this genre you can play. 

1. ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’

Can you even believe that “Baldur’s Gate 3” is counted as a CPRG? Of course. This game, from Larian Studios, is based on the tabletop fantasy role-playing dynamics of “Dungeons & Dragons.” 

Set in the universe called Forgotten Realms, “Baldur’s Gate 3” starts with the protagonist waking up from unconsciousness on a mind-flayer dimension-crossing ship infested by a parasitic tadpole that threatens to turn them into a mind-flayer. Think of Plankton of “SpongeBob SquarePants” or Lulu of “DC League of Super-Pets.” Small but terrible creatures. 

Alongside others who have suffered the same fate, they must go on an adventure to look for a remedy to prevent ceremorphosis from happening. 

2. ‘Pillars Of Eternity’

“Pillars of Eternity” is considered the purveyor of CRPG’s rebirth, and it is still one of the best games of this genre today. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the game will have you wearing the shoes of a person aligned with magic, who can revisit past memories of locations and see into time itself. 

If that doesn’t urge you to play it, there’s more. “Pillars of Eternity” features fun and exciting battles, not to mention an epic story and setting in both size and scope. While there’s already a sequel, we recommend you try the original.  

3. ‘Divinity: Original Sin II’

Also from Larian Studios, “Divinity: Original Sin II” is the fifth main entry in the “Divinity” series. Here, players control a Godwoken or a group of Godwokens (a Godwoken is a champion of the Seven Gods appointed to ascend to Divinity), a Sourcerer capable of harnessing and using a potent magic known as Source, and becomes a pivotal figure in the battle versus the Voidwoken (monstrous creatures destroying the medieval fantasy world of Rivellon). 

This game also features a turn-based tactical RPG combat in which gamers play from an isometric point of view. 

4. ‘Shadowrun: Hong Kong’

The fact that this game has the words “Hong Kong” in its title is already a testament to how good it is. The in-game synth music will keep you going, suggesting that it’s a cyberpunk CRPG you won’t find elsewhere. 

“Shadowrun: Hong Kong” is a mishmash of futuristic attributes with classic fantasy, which means you’ll see elves and gnomes side-by-side with neons and computers pregnant with files waiting to get hacked. Explore this game and be amazed.

5. ‘Disco Elysium’

Developed and published by ZA/UM, “Disco Elysium” takes inspiration from Infinity Engine-era video games. “Disco Elysium” was written and designed by a team spearheaded by Robert Kurvitz, an Estonian novelist. The game features an art style based on oil paintings and music by British Sea Power, an English band. 

The game transpires in the seaside district of a fictitious city still finding its way through a revolution that happened decades before the time at the start of the game. Here, you take the role of a detective who has amnesia and is tasked with solving a murder mystery. If that intrigues you, you must play this. 

6. ‘Dragon Age: Origins’

“Dragon Age: Origins” is an example of a hardcore CRPG. It’s not ranked as high on this list because its systems are complex, its story is not always clear, and it can be pretty challenging to play. Furthermore, since it was released on consoles simultaneously as it was launched for PCs, the audience it had was wider. 

The sequels of the franchise where it belongs also received a mixed reception, with some complaining that the systems were simplified so they’re more manageable for beginners. Nonetheless, the original is one of its era’s most celebrated role-playing games.

7. ‘Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire’

Here’s another “Pillars of Eternity” game on this list. The second game, “Deadfire,” came out in 2018 thanks to Obsidian Entertainment and Versus Evil, its developer and publisher, respectively.

There’s also a vehicle you can use to explore its world. 

10. ‘Arcanum: Of Steamworks And Magick Obscura’

We’re ending this list with a game that stands out above the rest because of its setting. Its steampunk backdrop is well-loved. 

“Arcanum” starts with your player character on a luxury airship before biplane-flying ogre bandits attack and down it. From here, the story just gets better and better. Go and see for yourself.

1. Best Sacred Seal: Erdtree Seal

Since Sacred Seals in “Elden Ring” are often tied to Faith, the Edtree Seal is the best and most perfect for those looking to specialize deeply in it, especially since it looks like a Catholic cross. You can find this Seal in the Volcano Manor area. To get there quickly, you must follow Rya’s quest because the area begins in Liurnia of the Lakes. Once you find her at her second location, she will offer to teleport you straight to the spot. 

The Erdtree Seal gives the highest damage output for all Incantations, provided that it is upgraded. This is because its Faith scaling is unparalleled, above any other item of a similar category.

2. Clawmark Seal

Bestial Incantations are vastly regarded as some of the best for dealing damage in a straightforward way. This Seal boosts this total damage, directly focusing on some of the best Incantations. But remember, the Clawmark Seal needs four Strength and 10 Faith to wield. 

Since Bestial Incantations are mostly damage-focused, this Seal makes them even more effective and powerful, arming you further with a potent healing Incation while also increasing the total damage of Beast Sling and Beast Claws, also equally impressive Incantations available in your midst.

3. Dragon Communion Seal

Third place is the Dragon Communion Seal, which suits players who are just dipping their hands in “Elden Ring’s” Incantations. 

It is hugely important to level up your Arcane and Faith. Therefore, take advantage of this Seal to enhance your damage and potentially one-shot your enemies. But, before owning this, you must first gather Dragon Hearts so you can unlock brand-new Incantations from the Dragon Communion Church.

4. Golden Order Seal

This Seal works best with the Golden Order Incantations. However, to wield this Seal necessitates patience on your end regarding progression into the game’s story. But your patience will pay off, as you can make great hybrid builds with this Seal. 

5. Giant’s Seal

Some “Elden Ring” insiders contest that the Giant Seal should be number four, but it can go interchangeably with the Golden Order Seal. This Seal offers a decent enhancement to Giant-type flame Incantations. Some of these are touted as the best in the game, which is only suitable for this Seal to boost their strengths. Like other seals, you can carry two in each hand to double their boosting capabilities. It requires four Strength and 14 Faith to wield. 

6. Godslayer’s Seal

The Godslayer’s Seal is a player’s favorite. As its name implies, this Seal boosts your Godslayer Incantations in an enjoyable way. Locate this in Stormveil Castle if you possess a spare Stonesword Key with you. 

To use this, it needs four Strength and 27 Faith. Partly because of this hefty requirement is what makes this Seal low on this list. However, this Seal is valuable if you are going for a total Faith build.

7. Gravel Stone Seal

Like the Giant’s Seal, the Gravel Stone Seal is also a late-game weapon. It’s on the number seven because it is challenging to find. After all, you must first unlock the lift to the Altus Plateau. But the effort will be worth it. 

The Lighting-based buffs from this Seal are perfect for several late-game encounters with opponents. The fact that the investment needed into the Faith stat with this Seal not being high as with other Seals compensates for the downside. Plus, it provides a modest boost to every Dragon Cult-based Incantation. 

These make it ideal for “Elden Ring” gamers who prefer not to invest a lot of Attribute points into Faith. Simultaneously, it can boost your Lighting abilities, too, which are very powerful Incantations in the game.

8. Frenzied Flame Seal

Next is the Frenzied Flame Seal. If some of the previous Seals are already hard for you to obtain, you might feel stressed that this Seal even takes more effort to get. Also, don’t be frustrated if the bonuses are not that great compared to those of the others here. Furthermore, this Seal’s Incantations also cause additional madness buildup. 

Aside from the bonuses not being the greatest, only a few Incantations with this seal receive them, and they don’t even stand out. But, this Seal is distinct in that it scales from Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, and Strength. It also gives other builds the opportunity to scale further from their Incantations.

9. The Weakest: Finger Seal

Last and the least is the Finger Seal. This is bestowed upon the Confessor and Prophet classes. Sure, it offers decent stats early on in the game, but it does not provide any buffs to any kind of Incantations. It’s a good seal, though, for those who are just using Incantations sparingly. To compensate for that weakness, the Finger Seal is easier to obtain and upgrade, unlike other Seals.

Our Review Of ‘Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku’ Season 1 And Fresh Details On Season 2

“Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku,” which we have previously covered here, citing media saying it was bound to be the “next big anime” according to Japanese TV programming executives before its release, was a tremendous success. 

The first season aired from April to July 2023, so it’s now been around a year since it ended. Good news. A second season has been confirmed. But, to refresh you on what happened during Season 1, here’s our review of “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku.” We haven’t done many reviews here on PVP Live, so you’re in for a treat. 

Overview Of ‘Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku’

This anime is based on a manga written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku. Set in Japan’s Edo period, the time when the country was under the regime of the shogunate of Tokugawa, its story follows the white-haired ninja Gabimaru and the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Together, they look for the elixir of immortality. 

Our Review

We won’t overwhelm you in this review in one wave. Rather, we’re dividing it into these sections: story, characters, visuals, and audio. Let’s begin. 

Story 

Like other materials, such as video games, the story is fundamental in animes. It’s what people are hooked on. The setting of “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku” provides several opportunities to open many stories. While it happened during the Tokugawa period, its story was focused on the early 18th century. That said, it is a mix of history and fantasy. 

The plot was well-written, following an organized structure. The first two episodes had a fast-paced story before slowing down eventually. Nevertheless, with several things happening in its different characters, viewers won’t really find the pacing too slow. Don’t miss the plot twist where Gabimaru loses his memories. It is a little bit cliché as you’ll find the occurrence of a character getting amnesia common in other TV dramas. 

But, the fascinating mysteries and lore in “Jigokuraku” can cover up for that. The world-building was well done, precisely how many characters attempted to study the monsters and the religious symbols during their quests. The world-building also features a power system, which is also interesting. 

When it comes to how it narrated its themes, it’s an applause for “Hell’s Paradise.” These themes include finding the truth, seeking real strength, balancing the mind and feelings, learning from others, and developing compassion. If there’s a downside to its story, it is only that backstories were explored briefly just before a character’s death. 

Characters

Aside from the story, another thing that viewers are looking for in an anime is the set of characters. Without interesting characters, they really wouldn’t spend time tuning in the show. We hate to burst your bubble, but for us, the character concepts of “Jigoraku” lacked originality. Here are a few examples to prove this point:

  • Nurugai was the last living member of an Emishi clan and massacred by the shogunate. Look at other shows set during this era, and you’ll understand why this is common. 
  • Shion is depicted as a blind teacher. This character is also typical.
  • Gabimaru and Yuzuhira are ninjas. Looking at shows like “Naruto,” you can see why this isn’t original.
  • Also, Yamada Asaemon Senta is a bookworm. His sweet-natured depiction made him more cliché.
  • Yamada Asaemon Fuchi is a nerd and is depicted as creepy, which is the usual connotation of nerds in schools. 
  • Aza Chōbei’s character is also stereotypical. 

In other words, the writers could have done better by improving the characters’ profiles. Moreover, the surviving characters in the anime only scratched the surface when it came to in-depth exploration from the fans. Viewers want more. 

Nonetheless, even if we started the discussion on the anime’s characters quite harshly, it is interesting to note that they are all likable and relatable. Even if they’re stereotypical, it is still fun to know their stories. 

Another thing that “Hell’s Paradise” did well was with its female characters. Unlike other animes, the ratio of male and female characters in “Jigoraku” is balanced. 

Visuals

Okay. Even if an anime has a good story and the perfect set of characters, without fantastic visuals, viewers will move over to the next show. “Hell’s Paradise” doesn’t fail in this aspect. Its art and animation are high in quality, though this is not to say that the characters are super stylized. But still manageable. 

The characters’ designs are colorful and unforgettable without getting overboard. Here are some examples:

  • Yuzuhira’s eccentric fashion and purple-hued hair are a standout. 
  • Sagiri’s height and long black hair are beautiful. 
  • Gabimaru’s physicality is worth noting. 
  • The design of the antagonists is done very creatively. 
  • The creature designs were impressive, too. 

Additionally, the shadows and lighting in this anime deserve mention, with some even looking cinematic. The lighting, not overwhelming. The color choices are also impressive, showing that the production team invested in hiring really talented visual creatives.

The facial expressions are also stunning. Not all animes succeed in presenting their shows in this level of detail. Plus, the action scenes are beautiful as well. We can’t think of any bad stuff about its visuals.

Music And Audio

Don’t shove this part away. Some anime viewers are particular about the music in such a way they’ll even find the songs and download them to their playlists. Right here, right now, we’ll say that the music of “Jigoraku” is beyond measure, from the opening song to the CBB song.

The voice acting is also very accurate to the profiles of the characters. No negative thoughts about the music and audio of “Hell’s Paradise” as well. 

Fresh Details On Season 2

Don’t worry now, as Season 2 of “Hell’s Paradise” has been officially confirmed, though there is no information on its release date yet. 

The story of the upcoming season can be guessed based on what happened during the first season, which took viewers through roughly half of the original manga’s story until the Lord Tensen Arc. The events of the subsequent chapters, from 60 to 126, are focused on the alliance of surviving criminals and executioners invading the palace of Hōrai to retrieve the elixir and escape from the island. 

We can only speculate for now. Given the events in Season 1, the anime’s heroes will encounter more challenges. Expect more gory tableaux, shocking character moments, and, of course, beautiful visuals.

Yet, the big appeal is this. If you turn in a top-notch item, like a piece of gear, it doubles the rewards you unearth. So, say the reward is about three million EXP. Turning in a high-quality piece boosts that number to six million. Considering each level necessitates between 13 and 23 million EXP to level, this means you’ll go through them at the fastest possible time. 

But there’s a caveat. The challenge is in crafting the pieces since each gear is generally intertwined. That said, you must level certain Crafters and Gathers on equal footing. Here’s the tip. Make good use of the market board and purchase the best gear. If you have gil, this remains the quickest way to level Crafters. 

2. Grand Company Turn-Ins

They are straightforward to craft, even at lower levels. 

Custom Deliveries are not the best, so the number of turn-ins you submit each week is limited. You are only allowed up to 12 turn-ins weekly, unlike Grand Company turn-ins, which have a daily reset. Considering that each turn-in here is about two million EXP, calculating things, you can generate one to two levels every week, provided that you focus on a single job. 

The greatest benefit here is that even the lowest-level Custom Delivery client will bestow you the same amount of rewards as the latest, higher-level client. Find the Custom Delivery client with the “BONUS” stuck next to the item to get it. Then, simply go ahead and craft it. The rewards are priceless.

4. Raw Crafting Grind

This method is the least expensive but the most time-consuming, which is why it’s last on this list. The amount of EXP you can earn for each craft, especially if you can craft the best quality items, is significant, earning you thousands of EXP per craft. You may put on auto-craft, and though this hands out less EXP, your effort will be far less. 6. Bruno

There are six Slayers in “Dead Island 2,” and ranking as the weakest is probably Bruno. Bruno is the stereotypical Rogue, boasting high critical damage and who can backstab zombies (in the literal sense).

While critical damage is valuable in this game, his starting abilities are a bit bad. The moderate damage boost he can contribute doesn’t give justice to pulling off a backstab. Moreover, the boost to Agility and Heavy Attack Charges he gets whenever he dodges or blocks does not seem his own. While his damage potential is high, there are other better Slayers than him.

5. Amy

Amy is ranked in this position primarily because she has insufficient Toughness. However, please don’t fret, as she compensates for that through her Agility. As a matter of fact, her Agility is way better than those of the other Slayers in “Dead Island 2.” 

She is best used when attacking zombies from a distance, throwing weapons to catch them off-guard, or sprinting over to isolated zombies and earning a sweet attack boost while doing so. You can also duck and dive while using Amy.

4. Ryan

Ryan is just right to be in rank four, as he is pretty average, not too bad, and not too superb, either. He is a tank, plain and simple. While he lacks Agility, his impressive Toughness allows him to remain standing in most battles. His abilities may not be individually exceptional, but they blend so well with his basic playstyle. When using him, proceed into the fray, go unleash some heavy hits, and repeat. Ryan isn’t the most exciting character, but a solid pick indeed.

3. Dani

While Dani has the worst Health Recovery among the rest, she is in third place because of her Innate Bloodlust Ability. She regains her health as she slays multiple zombies in speedy succession. So, take advantage of this, dive in head first, and bring lots of melee weapons to attack your way to full health. Don’t forget to keep munching on protein bars and gulping energy drinks to keep Dani thriving. 

2. Carla

Carla will remind you of Katniss Everdeen from “The Hunger Games” movie, at least speaking of physical attributes. While her base stats are not the greatest (actually, they’re pretty bad for gamers), she is one of the characters who can show how valuable those abilities are. 

Mosh Pit is one of her abilities, granting her a noticeable damage boost in various situations. Basically, she is capable of taking on hordes of zombies single-handedly, making her a definite pick for solo players who just want to keep slaying zombies like there’s no tomorrow.

1. Jacob

That leaves us to the best Slayer, Jacob, who is also the game’s cover image. He is well-rounded with Agility, Critical Damage, and Toughness, not to mention Peak Health and Stamina, which allow him to unleash a fury of attacks against zombie hordes. If he has a weakness, it’s his Low Resilience, but never major, nonetheless.
