Lost Judgment DLC Will Have A Playable Kaito Storyline

A campaign based on important supporting character Masaharu Kaito was recently revealed as part of the roadmap for Lost Judgement’s first wave of DLC. The forthcoming detective simulator from Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will follow defense attorney turned private investigator Takayuki Yagami as he attempts to exonerate a man accused of both sexual harassment and murder in Yokohama, Japan. Sega just released Lost Judgement’s entire English voice cast in a video last week, ahead of its September simultaneous global release date.

Kaito, a gruff-yet-loyal partner at the Yagami Detective Agency, is one of the most notable people accompanying Yagami in his never-ending pursuit for justice. Kaito was a high-ranking Yakuza lieutenant until he was dismissed a few years before the events of Judgement for failing to stop a thief stealing the Matsugane Family’s headquarters.

Kaito’s expertise as a member of the mafia makes him a valuable friend anytime Yagami is forced to resort to combat during Judgement’s plot, which is centered on a serial murderer known as “The Mole.” Kaito will not only return to assist Yagami in Lost Judgement, but it also looks that fans will be able to play as Kaito in a forthcoming DLC expansion.

Sega just listed the different DLC material coming to Lost Judgement once it launches later this month on PlayStation Blog, including a “Detective Essentials Pack” that offers vintage Sega minigames and additional colors for the game’s adoptive canine companion.

In addition, a “School Stories Expansion Pack” will be released, which will provide additional costumes and side activities to Lost Judgement’s school club narrative arcs. The “Kaito Files Story Expansion,” which is slated to release next spring and will include 10 hours of extra story content centered around Kaito, is the most major of these DLC packs. During these missions, players will be able to control the tough-as-nails former Yakuza and unleash his characteristic full-power fighting technique on any street thugs that get in his way.

While fans are eager to see more of Yagami and Kaito this autumn, the Judgement franchise’s future has lately been cast into doubt owing to a legal disagreement between Yagami’s Japanese VA, Takuya Kimura, and the talent agency representing him.

This has stopped both Judgement titles from being released on Steam, prompting Sega to contemplate abandoning the spin-off to their successful Yakuza series once Lost Judgement is completed.

Naturally, some fans are speculating that the impending Lost Judgement DLC, which focuses on Kaito, is Sega’s method of extending the Judgement series by introducing a new protagonist. After all, Kaito is a fan favorite among Judgement players, and his history as a former Yakuza member turned criminal investigator might provide for some intriguing storylines if Sega decides to phase Yagami out in the future. In the meanwhile, when Lost Judgement is released, players will be able to return to the Yagami Detective Agency’s adventures.
