Lost Judgment New Trailer Introduces Murder Mystery Story

SEGA has published a new trailer for Lost Judgment, the forthcoming Yakuza spin-off. It’s a follow-up to 2018’s Judgment, which was just updated for next-generation platforms and Stadia, but oddly, unlike the Yakuza titles, did not debut on Steam.

Lost Judgment improves on the original by introducing Snake, a new combat style with numerous skills that aid in countering assaults from armed foes. Snake will join the current Tiger and Crane combat techniques, which are effective against single and numerous adversaries, respectively.

It will take place largely in Yokohama, the same city as in Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon. Existing aspects from the original, such as following missions and crime scene investigations, will be returning in Lost Judgment, according to a recent video.

The latest Lost Judgment narrative trailer features footage from the initial announcement video, which was published in May. The almost 7-minute video contains a lot of information about the game’s narrative and characters, so those who are sensitive to spoilers should avoid viewing it.

The trailer begins with Akihiro Ehara’s trial, after which he reveals the identity and history of a deceased corpse from an apparently unrelated case. The story then follows Takayuki Yagami, the main character, in his desperate search for the truth about Ehara’s participation. In typical Yakuza tradition, it also depicts some over-the-top action sequences in addition to setting up the storyline.

Judgment is frequently recommended as a good place to start in this series. It introduces a fresh group of characters and presents a tale that is perhaps more genuine and convincing. Lost Judgment is shaping out to be a thrilling sequel that appears to have addressed some of the original’s flaws while also introducing new gameplay elements to keep the action fresh.

Lost Judgment will not be released on PC at all, unlike the original, which was released on Xbox platforms and Stadia following its PS4 launch. A conflict of interest with a Japanese talent agency is said to be at the root of the problem.

The bad news doesn’t stop there: owing to the aforementioned issue, Lost Judgment is supposed to be the series’ final installment. With future Yakuza games confirming a turn-based fighting system, it’ll be a pity if Judgment isn’t permitted to continue and expand on the action battle system that has always been a selling feature for the franchise.
