The creator of Pokémon Unite has confirmed that Sylveon and Mamoswine will be joining the free-to-play game, further extending the lineup. The MOBA may have just recently released for Nintendo Switch, but its increasing list of new Pokémon additions is already wowing fans, and there’s plenty more content on the way for Pokémon Unite.
Pokémon Unite was released last month for Nintendo Switch, and it wowed fans with its more casual and approachable take on the MOBA genre. In order to win matches, players must battle Pokémon in five-person teams, beating opponent Pokémon and scoring goals.
While the game has been well-received, it has also been chastised for what some consider to be an excessive reliance on microtransactions, in which real-world money is used to buy character licenses, cosmetics, and other items. With five distinct forms of money and a battle pass, the game’s expenses may quickly mount up if players wish to buy licenses to unlock additional Pokémon Unite characters.
Sylveon and Mamoswine will be joining the roster shortly, as revealed during the August Pokémon Presents livestream and verified by the official Pokémon Unite Twitter account. Pokémon Unite compared the Fairy-type Sylveon to the Ice/Ground-type Mamoswine, describing the pair as “beauty and brawn,” but did not go into depth about their roles in the game. Players interested in adding Sylveon and Mamoswine to their rosters should keep an eye on Pokémon Unite’s social media platforms for additional information.
Sylveon’s news may not come as a surprise to gaming fans. The character was originally discovered in a Pokémon Unite datamine, which revealed Blissey, Blastoise, Sylveon, and Greedent movesets, indicating that they will be included in the game shortly. While Sylveon and Blissey have been verified, the developer has yet to comment on the other leaks, however, it’s probable that they’ll be included next.

Swift, Psyshock, Hyper Voice Attract, Draining Kiss, and Fairy Wind are among Sylveon’s moves, according to the datamine, though they have yet to be verified. Mamoswine, on the other hand, was not identified by the datamine, which might indicate that there are more forthcoming Pokémon that have yet to be revealed through leaks.
It’s unclear when Sylveon and Mamoswine will join Pokémon Unite, although the characters’ arrival might coincide with the game’s mobile debut. Pokémon Unite is currently available on Nintendo Switch, but mobile devices will get it on September 22nd. In honor of the debut, players can expect to see new characters and cosmetics released, as well as complete cross-play for Pokémon Unite enthusiasts.
