When you think of Electric-type Pokémons, you’ll think of Pikachu. There’s nothing wrong with that, as Pikachu is the Pokémon brand. But don’t you think it’s time to further your horizons and get to know other Electric-type Pokémons that you might have missed in the anime or game?

There are 87 Electric-type Pokémons so far. Here are the most famous of them.

1. Zekrom

Alright, avid “Pokémon” fans will contest. You know why? They’ll argue that Zekrom is technically first a Dragon-type Pokémon before Electric. Well, Zekrom is still the best Electric-type Pokémon in terms of strength as it is the only other Pokémon of this type to appear on a title’s box art aside from Pikachu.

Zekrom is powerful. For one, it can scorch the world with lightning that will get “X-Men’s” Storm challenged. It is also one of the only Pokémon that masters Bolt Strike, an incredibly mighty Electric move.

In fact, because it was so strong and competitive, it was banned from some Pokémon plays. Watch this video to see how Pikachu and Ash reacted when they first saw Zekrom

2. Raikou

Raikou is one of the most adorable Pokémons in Johto. This Electric, Legendary Pokémon excels in its base stats, health, and attack. So, consider yourself the luckiest if you have Raikou in your Pokédex.

While Raikou’s defense isn’t the best, it has some fantastic speed stats and special moves, making it one of the best Electric-type Pokémons ever.

3. Ampharos

There were not a lot of Electric-type Pokémons introduced in “Gold and Silver,” the first sequel of the franchise, but the rare introduction of these Pokémons, like Ampharos, made sure it would be memorable.

Ampharos is also a writer’s favorite, as it has appeared in several instances throughout the franchise. While its speed isn’t the best-performing, the punches it delivers make up for this shortcoming.

Plus, it can boost its Special Attack to its Mega version, making way for powerful Electric moves like Thunder Punch, Zap Cannon, Dragon Pulse, and Thunder that are all, well, lethal. Don’t mess around with this guy.

4. Tapu-Koko

What a unique name. Tapu-Koko’s design appears like inspired by African hues or Polynesian, maybe, and it looks beautiful from the very start. While its health stat is its weakness, it can deal such an excellent base damage. Using Tapu-Koko in battles is a good decision.

Its base defense is also promising. Thus, if you want to grab yourself a Guardian Pokémon, Tapu-Koko is your best bet. It is well-rounded and can go places.

5. Zeraora

No, not Rita Ora. Zeraora debuted in “Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon.” It dominates by taking advantage of the electricity from outside sources, storing them as its own, and using it in battles.

Though weak in defense, it excels in speed. Thus, Pokémon Trailers would want to peruse its Life Orb for its damage output, not to mention providing survivability and longevity while this Pokémon is in play.

6. Zapdos

Classic and powerful. A native of the Kanto region, Zapdos won’t be overlooked by Pokémon kids as this name reverberates. While this first-gen Legendary pocket monster doesn’t do well as other creatures of this kind, still, it can hit hard. Its base status is solid, making Zapdos the go-to Pokémon for high-level plays, both for offense and defense.

7. Regieleki

PVP Live has featured Regileki in a previous story about the fastest Pokémons ever. Because of its speed, this is a must-use when you want to damage your enemies through quick attacks, though this can come at the expense of Regieleki’s other stats.

Also, its Hit Points and special defense are lacking and may get in your way, but its Electric-type moves are still the best. Just consider its Thunder Cage attack. Pair it with a Water-type Pokémon, and you’ll get wonders.

8. Raichu

You know very well that Raichu is Pikachu’s evolved form. Its significant base damage ensures it can shock opponents to the ground, pun intended.

But, with its unfavorable base health and defense, Raichu will find it challenging to tackle monsters they can’t directly counter. Yet, its base damage is stunning, so it’s still a Pokémon you’d want to welcome to your party.

9. Thundurus

That name is echoing electric! Thundurus is a powerhouse in its category. While it is ranked lower on this list, it is said to rival Zekrom in terms of pure strength. Just think of its Therian Forme, a force of nature to be reckoned with.

While its moveset isn’t vast – it only has Thunder, Volt Switch, and Discharge – its base stats are enough to fade those weaknesses away. Very powerful.

10. Jolteon

Another classic Pokémon. Jolteon is Eevee’s evolved form. In the “Pokémon” gaming franchise, it is one of the best Electric-type monsters. For beginners, it is the best choice for a Glass Canon team, which means you won’t need to think much about strategy and brute force through fights.

Although its base stats are not the best, utilizing its moveset will prevent you from worrying about losing battles.

11. Raikou

Raikou has a very intricate, complicated design. It looks like it can pass off as a Fantastic Beast in “Harry Potter”! Kidding aside, this Pokémon also does not have evolutions. It benefits from a relatively good set of base stats, and shines with its lightning-fast Special Attack and Speed stats. It’s not the best choice when you’re looking for a Pokémon with high Defense, though.

12. Pikachu

Drum roll, please. Now, it’s time to reveal Pikachu, the brand, the mascot of the franchise. Its agility and speed are promising, though its base damage is on the lower end, making Pikachu a friend, but don’t want it to suffer in fights. But, if you insist, take advantage of it during early-game moments.

Those are 12 of the best and most popular Electric-type Pokémons you can have by your side in games, trading cards, and animes. Stun your enemies.
