“Blue Lock” is an action-packed anime that tells the story of a Japanese football team’s quest to take Japan to international stardom under the supervision of football enigma Jinpanchi Ego.
Ego designed a training regimen to create the world’s best egotist striker, following his namesake. The program is so strict that anybody who fails it will never again be permitted to play for Japan.
Now, there’s Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school soccer player who experiences conflicts with his playing style and joins Blue Lock in hopes of becoming the greatest striker worldwide.

Isagi is “Blue Lock’s” main protagonist, its brand ambassador. This second-year high school student formerly played as a forward for the Ichinan High School soccer team until he found Blue Lock. His dream is to become the world’s best striker.
Asuki Naruhaya
- Birthday: March 20th
- Age: 17 years old
- Height: 171 cm
A former member of Team Z, consisting of lower-ranking members of Blue Lock, where Isagi also once became a member, Naruhaya is a short and attractive soccer athlete with fluffy blonde hair, dark and round eyebrows, and long eyelashes.
Gin Gagamaru
- Birthday: January 2nd
- Age: 17 years old
- Height: 191 cm
Meanwhile, Gagamaru is a Blue Lock contender, currently playing as the goalkeeper of Germany’s Bastard München. He was formerly a forward position also aspiring to be the best in the world, along with other Blue Lock members. When he first arrived in the program, he also became part of Team Z.
Gurimu Igarashi
- Birthday: July 6th
- Age: 16 years old
- Height: 175 cm
Igarashi also plays for Germany’s Bastard München like Gagamaru. Interestingly, he grew up in a religious temple but didn’t want to be a monk for the rest of his life. Instead, he wants to be a professional soccer player the world idolizes. Because of this upbringing, he exhibits an awkward and religious personality, but he is pragmatic and determined.
Hyoma Chigiri
- Birthday: December 23rd
- Age: 16 years old
- Height: 177 cm
Charming Chigiri, who plays as a left wing for Manshine City, an English team, is the epitome of a confident and driven athlete who loves surpassing others and what they can do on the field. But he had a tumultuous past, suffered from a severe leg injury, but he never let this stop him from reaching his goals.
Jingo Raichi
- Birthday: October 17th
- Age: 17 years old
- Height: 184 cm
Raichi is the defensive midfielder for Bastard München. When he first entered Blue Lock, he also became part of Team Z. This soccer player is one of the most impatient in the team. He is overly confident and does not like being given orders by people around him.
Meguru Bachira
- Birthday: August 8th
- Age: 17 years old
- Height: 176 cm
On the other hand, Bachira is a source of pride for Spain. He plays center forward for the country’s FC Barcha. This whimsical forward always likes to follow his instincts. A young man with a slim build, oval-shaped face, bright yellow eyes, and bob-cut hair reaching up to his chin, Bachira uses the program to his advantage to overcome the trauma he experienced as a child.
Okuhito Lemon
- Birthday: November 19th
- Age: 18 years old
- Height: 187 cm
Unlike other characters here, Lemon is a former contender of the Blue Lock Project. Like others, he started as a member of Team Z but was eliminated in the Second Selection, so he never moved forward to the Third Selection. He is caring and willing to train others, sharing his experiences with them.
Rensuke Kunigami

- Age: 17 years old
- Height: 188 cm
Kunigami plays for Germany’s Bastard München. This football player is a tall and fair-skinned high schooler possessing auburn eyes and bright, spiky orange hair styled in an undercut. He was actually eliminated from the program during the Second Selection, but thanks to a “wild card,” he managed to return.
Yudai Imamura
- Birthday: July 15th
- Age: 18 years old
- Height: 178 cm
Imamura is somebody you’d want to keep by your side if not on your team. Though he was eliminated midway through the program, his likable and energetic personality is a win for the girls around him.
Season 2 Updates
It’s official. This October 5th, a brand-new “Blue Lock” season will air. It will follow the part in the manga about Blue Lock versus Japan U-20 Arc, which is from chapters 109 to 151. It will also continue what the previous season ended with following the Third Selection Arc.
“Blue Lock” Season 2 will have 14 episodes, a decrease from the previous season’s 24. But that doesn’t mean the upcoming season won’t be exciting. You also don’t need to watch the “Blue Lock” movie before you watch the second season, as missing it won’t affect the way you will understand the brand-new season’s story.
