A console’s controller is a vital component when you want to play your favorite games continuously without experiencing any hassle. Aside from playing games, controllers are also used to navigate system and app interfaces.

Without a controller, your gameplay will not seem as natural. Controllers are crucial when playing shooter, fighting, or racing games, helping gamers optimize their abilities.

Do you own a PlayStation 5? You may encounter this or not, but sometimes your PS5 controller will be unavailable. Don’t be sad. That doesn’t mean you can’t continue playing games. Did you know that you can connect a PlayStation 4 controller to PS5? Here are the steps.

The Steps To Connect Your PS4 Controller To PS5

Step 1: Look For A microUSB Cable

The last-generation PS4 pad utilizes a microUSB cable. That said, you cannot just use your PS5 DualSense wire for this purpose. Therefore, you must find a microUSB cable. Once done, plug it into one of the USB ports on the PS5.

Step 2: Start Connecting Your DualShock 4 Pad

Then, after you are done with the first step, plug the microUSB connector into the top of the DualShock 4 pad.

Step 3: Lastly, Switch The Controller On

Press and hold the PlayStation button that’s in the middle of your DualShock 4 pad until you see the light flashing. If everything is okay, your PS5 will ask who uses the gamepad.

This time, your PS4 pad is already paired with the PS5. You won’t need to follow this step again. And, you can also turn on your PS5 by holding the PlayStation button, similar to what you would do with a DualSense pad.

Connecting Your PS4 Controller To PS5 Wirelessly

Want to connect your PS4 controller to your PS5 wirelessly? Here are the steps:

  • First, proceed to Settings on the PS5.
  • Then, choose Accessories, then Bluetooth Accessories.
  • Afterward, simultaneously press the PlayStation and Share buttons on your PS4 controller until the LED light blinks. Your PS4 controller will then be in pairing mode.
  • Choose the PS4 controller under Accessories found.

If you have paired your PS4 controller with your PS5 controller before, you will see the PS4 controller popping up under Registered accessories as DualShock 4.
