Rainbow Six Siege Halloween Event Transforms Operators Into Muppet-Like Characters

October is almost reaching its end, which also means Halloween is fast approaching. Many video games have already started their in-game Halloween events, but this doesn’t seem to be the case for Rainbow Six Siege.

You see, Ubisoft hasn’t given any indication that it will be hosting a Halloween event in the online tactical shooter. Although this doesn’t really come as a surprise to long-time players, as the title is deeply rooted in the real world – just without the technologically-advanced gadgets and weapons, of course.

Rainbow Six Siege getting a bizarre Halloween event is definitely the last thing that players would expect, but it appears that this is exactly what they’re going to get. And given the circumstances, one can even say that “strange” wouldn’t even come close to describing this event.

From October 27 through November 10, Rainbow Six Siege will be participating in this year’s Halloween festivities through its event called Sugar Fright. This new event was announced through a recently-uploaded trailer that showcased firefighting, which takes place in what appears to either be a new or updated map.

The strangest part about this entire trailer and event in general is the fact that the operators look like puppets. If you take a quick look at the trailer above, you’ll see that the models for each character look like they have a texture made out of felt along with googly eyes to see, which makes the operators look like Muppets.

Seasoned players know how Ubisoft was able to bring all kinds of updates to Rainbow Six Siege and its world, but none have surpassed just how strange this one is.

On another note, the map for the Sugar Fright event is also worth talking about. Based on the trailer, it appears that the Halloween event will take place in what seems to be a nightmarish caricature of a small town.

You’ll find that multiple items found on the map are related to dessert or sweets, from ginormous lollipops to a cake factory. In the middle of this sweet-looking town, the operators-slash-puppets are scurrying around and shooting at one another.

That being said, there shouldn’t be any surprises when it comes to the gameplay. In other words, what you see on the trailer is pretty much what you’ll get once you play the game yourself.

Unlike Rainbow Six Siege’s previous announcements, such as the Sam Fischer animation, this upcoming event focuses more on gameplay. The trailer’s editing is pretty fun and goofy though, so we commend it for that.

Asides from the fact that the models now look like Muppets, another alteration made has to do with the game’s effects. More specifically, there is a lack of blood during the Sugar Fright event, as it appears that the characters will simply burst into colorful smoke when shot and eliminated.

This may not be the first time that Rainbow Six Siege will celebrate Halloween, but it’s definitely not even close to the events Ubisoft has done before. For instance, the Halloween event that took place last year was entitled Doktor’s Curse, and it gave players the ability to become invisible monsters.

That being said, we’re still not sure if these puppet-like appearances are just skins, or if the operators will really turn into puppets for the duration of the event. If they are skins, though, it would be great if they become available for longer even after the event is over, as they’re creepy yet really well-designed.
