The “Resident Evil 4” remake game has launched, and gamers enjoy playing it. However, there is also a large group of gamers who are not entirely satisfied with the remake game is turning out to be.
Spammed with negative reviews over ‘wokeness’
Whether they are complaints about Ashley wearing tights or complaints over her ballistics not getting the same level of attention as they did in the original, the “Resident Evil 4” remake is being spammed with bad reviews, accusing it of “going woke.”
In fact, on Metacritic – a website that aggregates reviews of movies, TV shows, music albums, and video games – the user score of the game there went as low as four out of 10 on some platforms, as some gamers are not quite happy about how it is turning out.
One review lamented, “Humor is gone. Voice acting is bad all the way across the board. It’s even woke in areas. It’s a pretty sad little remake.”
Or maybe these gamers are just being overly meticulous?
There were also other complaints saying Ashley and Ada are too “brave” in the remake, saying, “For Capcom, it is more important to be politically correct than making a good game.”
Others spammed every platform with negative reviews. While they take issue with the actual gameplay, they also find the combat “boring” and Leon not saying “women” in a huff anymore.
“Politically correct plot,” another review said. “No ballistics, overtime, or checking out Ashley’s bits.”
Meanwhile, reviews also focused on the lack of Ashley being endowed with intercourse or offering to reward Leon with intercourse at the end of the game.
Moreover, others are also unhappy that modes like Separate Ways and Mercenaries are not in the game from launch. There are further fears of the Separate Ways mode being paid DLC later, but this has not been confirmed.
Gao, the voice actress of Ada Wong, harassed on Instagram
Meanwhile, Lily Gao, the voice actress behind Ada Wong in the “Resident Evil 4” remake, has left Instagram after being flooded with harassment posts over her performance in the role. Gao had previously played Ada Wong in “Resident Evil: Return to Raccoon City” and returned to do the same in the game’s remake.
Previously, Gao had posted excitedly on Instagram about her voicing Ada Wong, saying she is proud of this portrayal. However, those posts and even along with others unrelated to “Resident Evil” were flooded with hate comments and harassment.
Generally, people are crying over her performance’s tone, which is much more reserved and less provocative than in the original game. Commenters on Instagram attacked the voice actress for a performance they called “terrible,” with a netizen even saying she “ruined the remake.” Others took issue with Ada being “less seductive.”
Gao has turned off comments on her entire Instagram page and removed all posts, including all posts about “Resident Evil,” except one. She does not maintain any other social media accounts and has not publicly issued a statement about this “harassment” or the removal of her posts on Instagram.
