In a recent announcement, Asmodee Digital has revealed that digital adaptation of the board game Scythe has been launched on iOS and Android. Previously, Scythe: Digital Edition was released in select regions for iOS, but now, it’s available globally for both popular operating systems.
If you’re a stranger to this game, Scythe is an asymmetric board game that’s set in the 1920s, and this digital edition features graphics made by the original artist, Jakub Rozalski.
Every player takes on the role of a once-great leader who wants to restore their reputation, all while trying to lead their faction to power in Europa. In order to do so, you – the player – have to conquer territories, gather resources, take in new recruits, and even activate powerful mechs.
There’s a very big focus on engine-building in Scythe, as you need to greatly improve your construction abilities in order to become more efficient.
For instance, your position on the map will greatly improve depending on the structures you build while activating mechs will make the opponents think twice about attacking you.
In addition, each player can choose one specialty out of several choices, such as Agriculturalist, Industrialist, Engineer, Patriot, and Mechanic. Each one will provide you with a unique approach to Scythe.
The physical board game was released back in 2016, but a digital version for PC was released in 2018. This PC version will be able to cross-play with the iOS and Android versions. In other words, you will be able to find games quickly as you will have a wider range of players.
On the other hand, you can also play against Scythe’s AI if you don’t feel like playing with other people.
As a premium title, Scythe: Digital Edition is now available for $8.99 on the App Store and Google Play.
