Sony usually reveals the free PlayStation Plus games on the final Wednesday of each month, but this wasn’t the case with the September 2021 free PS Plus titles. Because new PS Plus games are introduced on the first Tuesday of each month, and the first Tuesday of September isn’t until September 7, Sony decided to announce the next batch of free PS Plus games on Wednesday, September 1.
Three games were originally revealed as free PS Plus games for September 2021. Overcooked: All You Can Eat is available for PlayStation 5, while Predator: Hunting Grounds and Hitman 2 are available for PlayStation 4. Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetric multiplayer game, whereas Overcooked: All You Can Eat is a co-op party game that combines the previous two Overcooked games with some upgrades. Hitman 2 is a stealth action game that serves as a prequel to Hitman 3, which came out earlier this year.
When the PlayStation Store refreshes on Tuesday, September 7, the free PS Plus titles for September 2021 will be available to download. The free PS Plus games for August 2021 will be cycled out at that point, so anyone interested in claiming them still has about a week to do so if they want to add them to their library.
Hunter’s Arena: Legends, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2 are the free PS Plus games for August 2021, as a reminder. All three of the free PS Plus games for August 2021 were released on PS4, with Hunter’s Arena: Legends also being available on PS5. In contrast to the free PS Plus games for September 2021, Overcooked: All You Can Eat is only available on PS5.
Take aim or chop your way to the top with September’s PlayStation Plus lineup, arriving next week.

What’s noteworthy about the September 2021 free PS Plus titles is that they violate a trend that Sony has set for free PS5 games. With the exception of Maneater, almost every single free PS5 PS Plus game has been a fresh new PS5 release. Because of this trend, many people believed the free PS5 PS Plus game would be FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, which is slated to release on September 7th, the same day as the new PS Plus titles.
Another hypothesis heading into the September 2021 free PS Plus games was that Chernobylite would be one of them, but that notion was tossed out the window when Chernobylite’s release date was pushed out to the end of the month at the last minute.
