Splatoon 3 is now one of Nintendo’s most anticipated titles for 2022. The original teaser, which provided a quick glimpse of some of the multiplayer action, sparked a lot of interest. Following that, a recent Nintendo Direct provided fans an in-depth look at Splatoon 3’s new single-player narrative mode, Return of the Mammalians. This includes brand-new settings, returning characters Agent 3, Callie, and Marie, as well as a demonstration of the new Mammal danger.
The Nintendo Direct also revealed more details about the game’s multiplayer functionality, such as the new center world known as Splatsville. Other multiplayer components revealed included some of Splatoon 3’s new stages and weaponry, as well as returning weapons such as the Splat Roller, which now has a new sub-weapon. Nintendo provided some fresh data and images regarding two new special weapons included in the game, as well as two quick peeks at them.
Special Weapons are strong tools that can only be obtained by inking the ground and building up the player’s Special Gauge. The first of these new special weapons is a Crab Tank, which was also briefly featured in the Splatoon 3 announcement video.
This new special weapon has rapid-fire and broad blast cannon modes. It also allows the player to roam throughout the environment in both its crab and morphing ball forms. This spherical shape can adhere to walls and move quicker than its crab legs, which coat the ground with ink.
The second detailed special weapon was also showed shown briefly in the latest Splatoon 3 teaser, with an inkling instantly rushing to a wall. This one transforms the player into the Zipcaster, a fighter that can extend out its tentacles and attach to any wall or surface.

This gives them more momentum and helps them to disturb their opponents. This weapon will also disguise the player’s identity, and when their supply of ink runs out, the player will revert to the point where they began their metamorphosis.
While these were not given a thorough examination, they do demonstrate the inventiveness and intriguing new elements that this new game will provide. The weaponry in Splatoon 3 are insane, and this is only a taste of what’s to come. Based on what was seen in the two trailers, fans have already deduced which of these unique weapons will be included in the separate weapon sets.
