Sleek and luxurious, the Gjallarhorn is undoubtedly a favorite among “Destiny” players, not just “Destiny 2.” It is the first weapon to come to mind, defining the entire “Destiny” franchise through the years. This rocket launcher, so exotic, was so iconic and potent in the very first “Destiny” game that it’s something they’d want to bring in their pocket through the endgame content.

So, the developers made the right decision to bring the weapon back (or instead, introduce it) to “Destiny 2.” Gamers can now dip their hands on this fantastic rocket launcher, including the catalyst that enhances its power. Here’s everything you need to know about the equally stunning Gjallarhorn Catalyst in “Destiny 2.”

The Gjallarhorn Weapon

The Gjallarhorn is categorized as an Exotic Rocket Launcher, the only rocket launcher with tracking missiles that each work separately from the warheads. It is now available when you complete the Beauty in Destruction quest, wherein you retrace the steps of its original maker, Feizel Crux. This is among the three exotic Rocket Launchers in the game created by the Crux-Lomar weapons foundry, with the other two being Truth and Dragon’s Breath.

Concerning the gameplay, this highly regarded rocket launcher in this online shooter game is known for its immense power and essential use in high-level activities, specifically in the first year of the first game of “Destiny.” It’s a miss not to have it, as those who don’t wield it were often excluded from raids and other challenges.

Initially a weapon overlooked when sold by Xur, the Gjallarhorn gained notoriety because of the “Wolfpack Rounds,” wherein missiles split into tracking clusters following detonation, allowing quick takedowns of the toughest of bosses or large enemy groups.

Following a nearly year-long gap in its availability and accessibility, the weapon made its comeback in “Destiny 2,” where it became, well, legendary. In this game, the weapon retains its power with slight upgrades, including empowering several others of this kind and spawning potent missiles after kills using its catalyst. Let’s take a look at its catalyst.

The Gjallarhorn Catalyst

The Perks Of The Gjallarhorn Catalyst: What It Does

The Perk of the Gjallarhorn Catalyst is More Wolves wherein the magazine size increases by 1 Rocket. When a target succumbs to Wolfpack Rounds’ final blows, it spawns an even stronger and quicker missile at the target’s location.

Also, when players get their hands on the Gjallarhorn weapon, they will only have a single rocket in the chamber before the need to reload. The More Wolves perk buffs this into two, allowing you to shoot rockets in double before being forced to reload your weapons, a distinct capability for the rocket launchers category.

Keep in mind, too, that the More Wolves perk plays nicely into the Wolfpack Rounds perk, which does not just split the shooter’s missiles into tiny cluster missiles but also provides anyone with even a Legendary rocket launcher Wolfpack Rounds if they are within the shooter’s vicinity.

How To Get The Gjallarhorn Catalyst

Unlike how to get other Catalysts for “Destiny 2,” the procedures to obtain the Gjallarhorn Catalyst are a bit complex. Of course, first, you must earn the Gjallarhorn weapon. Once you have this, return to the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. This can be of any difficulty level, and you must complete the quest to the final boss, at least. Your aim now is to kill three yellow bar Reaver Vandals, then deliver the Burden by Riches debuff they drop to three different chests scattered across the dungeon. Though you won’t acquire anything for opening the first two chests, unlocking the third chest rewards you with the Catalyst for the Gjallarhorn weapon. Read on for the details of each chest.

First Chest

Immediately after you get inside the loot cave, you will find the first Reaver Vandal at the start of the dungeon. Along the narrow walkway inside this cave, you will spot the Reaver Vandal along the cliffs to the right. Killing the Reaver Vandal, as you learned earlier, provides you the Burden by Riches debuff.

Moving forward now, turn around and run back like how you came toward the metal scaffolding. Above the scaffolding, you’ll see the first chest. Unlock the chest while you still have the debuff.

Second Chest

The second chest this time. You can find the second Reaver Vandal right after the large cylinder gets rolled down the stairs with the aim of crushing you. You must, of course, dodge this trap and make your way toward the room where you usually climb into the vent to progress further. Then, damage the Reaver Vandal on the left by some boxes until an engram is dropped. Afterward, quickly proceed to the vent with your debuff. Ensure you go right, left, then go right immediately along the wall as you exit the vent. The chest is located on a tiny platform.

Third Chest

Have you finished the Fallen Shield encounter? This is the only way to get to the last chest. Proceed to the center island and, instead of launching yourself up into the vast hole you made, point the cannon to the back of the room. Via the Scorch Cannon, you can then activate the gravity lift and rocket yourself to the room’s other side. The third Reaver Vandal is hanging around a tiny stream. Ensure you can damage this enemy until he drops the engrams. Pick them up and traverse your way back to the center island. It can be tricky since you just have half a minute, so either have your cannon ready, already pointed to the middle island, or pop Top Tree Dawnblade to hover above the gap.

Are you a Hunter or Titan? Have someone else take charge of launching you the cannon to the center. This saves more time.

Now, regardless of how you got to the center island, climb over the roof of the large round building in the middle. The chest will be there. Opening it rewards you with the Gjallarhorn Catalyst. You can either finish the dungeon or leave at this point. It doesn’t matter.

Once these are completed, the Catalyst can be used to make the weapon reload faster, then create more potent missiles whenever your Wolfpack rounds take down an enemy. To complete the catalyst, simply kill 400 enemies using the weapon in any activity.

Experience those for yourself. You can now play “Destiny 2” for free on PlayStations 5 and 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows, and Google Stadia.
