The Samsung Galaxy S23 series – which comprise the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra — finally launched last Friday. However, some users, particularly those of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, are reporting a camera stabilization bug, and there are also reports that One UI 5.1, which was launched alongside the series, is allegedly damaging the battery life of Galaxy devices.
Camera stabilization bug
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the brand’s flagship model, and among its features is its excellent set of cameras. Reviews also say that Samsung has intensely worked into the camera algorithms to offer users impressive results. For instance, the Optical Image Stabilization, or OIS, has been enhanced significantly compared to its predecessor. An upgraded OIS technology means more vivid images.
However, some users spotted a bug that stopped this technology from working as intended. Because of this bug, the videos appear shaky due to poor stabilization.
This is also noticeable when capturing a phone, though it is less apparent in portrait mode. At times, it is totally contrary, and the stabilization appears good in video mode but not in photo mode.
Resetting the camera settings seems to help. However, as you close and reopen the camera app, the problem persists. The problem appears to be most prevalent when taking photos in low light or at night when the OIS should usually help minimize blurriness and noise levels, but it is not working this way, as per these users’ reports.
Samsung One UI 5.1 reportedly damaging the battery life of Galaxy devices
This is not the only glitch reported about the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy series. Samsung also recently unveiled One UI 5.1, based on Android 13. This was released with the Galaxy 23 smartphone series.
However, not everything goes smoothly when updates are hoisted very frequently, which also applies to One UI 5.1. Following the latest One UI 5.1 upgrade, some Galaxy handsets are reportedly experiencing battery health issues.
Some users aired their concerns on Samsung’s official forum, saying that after updating to One UI 5.1, the battery life of their devices has significantly declined. Some users also expressed their grievances about the same issue on social media.
Following the newest update, some users observed odd heating on their smartphones. Apparently, surprisingly and interestingly, the issue is also widespread among Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 users.
S23 Ultra failed the durability and drop test
This is not to discourage you from purchasing the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy series, but apparently, over the course of last week, PBKReviews on YouTube presented a drop and durability test for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and it failed.
The S23 Ultra shattered on the first drop from waist height. It was believed that its curved display is to blame for the shattering, and reviewers are hoping that the S23+ may fare better, hopefully, with its flat glass display.
