Uncle Ben, the father figure of Spider-Man’s alter-ego, Peter Parker, told him, “With great power comes great responsibility.” This time, Samsung can say that as well.
Why? Its Galaxy Tab Active3 is helping put out fires in France.
Encountering fires is rampant in France – across various parts of the globe, actually. So technology meddling in providing solutions for incidents is undoubtedly a big deal.
Helping firefighters in France
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active3 is now one of the tools helping firefighters in Ain, France. The South Korean tech multinational has provided firefighters in this department’s 58 rescue centers with 200 Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 tablets, which BatiSafe can easily manage thanks to the all-in-one Knox Suite enterprise mobility solution.
Ain firefighters are now using this Samsung tablet together with the Batifire app from BatiSafe, which facilitates information on buildings. Via the app and the embedded tablet camera, firefighters are able to scale QR codes located at the buildings’ entrances to get information about the area to which they need to attend.
In conjunction with Google ARCore, the tablet also allows firefighters to integrate virtual elements, particularly augmented reality, into their real working environments.
Designed for harsh conditions
According to the official website of this Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3, it is designed to be “sturdy and reliable.”
“Galaxy Tab Active3 is robust and reliable in harsh conditions. With an IP68 rating and the latest MIL-STD-810H certification, the durable 8-inch tablet is resistant to water and dust and can withstand 1.5m drops with Protective Cover. Portable and compact, it’s built to tough out your day,” the website said.
Thus, it is really an excellent tool for helping put out fires.
Not only that, but the tablet also features a “glove mode” that will let firefighters use its touchscreen without needing to remove their gloves, which are a pre-requisite when at work.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 also boasts an 8.0-inch PLS LCD, an Exynos 9810 SoC, a 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage, a fingerprint scanner, and a 5,050mA battery with 15W charging capabilities.
The rugged device, announced and released last September 2020 with Android 10 onboard, has already received an Android 13-based One UI 5 update in Europe.
Plus, it also has an S Pen, supports Samsung DeX, and has a 13MP camera with autofocus and panorama.
Moreover, Samsung’s Knox Suite enterprise mobility solution will let BatiSafe manage all 200 devices, deploy new updates, and carry out maintenance across the whole fleet remotely and with so much ease. This Knox platform also guarantees that confidential and sensitive data stay safe and encrypted in real time.
