Owen Hart, a popular professional wrestler, sadly died after falling from the rafters of the arena on May 23, 1999. Dr. Martha Hart established the Owen Hart Foundation in memory of her late husband, which raises funds for those in need and provides scholarships and housing for low-income families.
Martha has also fought to prevent the WWE from benefiting from Owen’s image, preventing him from appearing in WWE video games in recent years. However, owing to a new collaboration between All Elite Wrestling and the Owen Hart Foundation, it appears like Owen Hart will once again be involved in professional wrestling.
AEW made the surprising revelation on social media, outlining how it will work with Martha to commemorate Owen’s legacy. This will include the Owen Hart Cup Tournament on AEW television, as well as fresh new goods such as action figures.
The upcoming AEW video game was also addressed, and while no details were released at this moment, it appears like Owen Hart will make his first appearance in a wrestling game since the 1990s in the AEW video game.
While this news may come as a surprise to some, it’s not surprising given Martha Hart’s history with WWE. Over the years, Martha tried to limit WWE’s usage of Owen’s image, preventing him from being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
However, Martha’s problem isn’t with pro wrestling in general, but with WWE in particular. Now that AEW has established itself as a reputable brand, it’s only natural that she’s collaborating with Tony Khan and the rest to help commemorate Owen’s legacy in the ring.

In addition, AEW has a long-standing relationship with the Hart family. Bret Hart, Owen’s older brother, was on hand to deliver the AEW World Championship at the first-ever AEW pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing.
Owen Hart may become a selling point for old-school wrestling fans if he makes it onto the AEW video game roster as a full-fledged playable character. As of now, the AEW video game lineup is mainly a mystery, as the game isn’t anticipated to release until 2022 at the earliest, and therefore most specifics are being kept under wraps.
Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Darby Allin, Hikaru Shida, and Jungle Boy are among the stars announced for the AEW video game thus far. Recent significant AEW additions like CM Punk and Bryan Danielson are also anticipated to be in the AEW video game roster, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
