In less than a month, gamers will finally be able to try out Microsoft’s next-gen console, the Xbox Series X. The next-gen console has been teased on the internet for several years now, and after the long wait, fans will finally be able to experience the console for themselves. However, one fortunate individual has not only received the actual Xbox Series X but has leaked an unboxing video of it on YouTube.
It was only at the end of 2019 that the Xbox Series X was officially revealed, ensuing information about the console began to appear such as its technical specs, release date, and official box art. While Sony’s next-gen console isn’t available in the market yet, fans now have a good idea of what to expect when they buy the system.
Tom Warren, The Verge’s Senior Editor, shared a clip on his Twitter account of a man allegedly taking out the Xbox Series X from its retail box. The video was first posted via a YouTube channel but has been made private recently, most probably at the demand of Microsoft. However, Warren also made a GIF of the unboxing itself, showcasing how unique it is from any other video game console box.
The first notable distinction is how the box itself is presented. Based on what is shown in the clip, there doesn’t seem to be any type of additional space for an HDMI cable or power cable, though they should definitely be packed along with the console given that it will not run otherwise.
Another intriguing part of the clip is that the Xbox Series X is wrapped in some type of protective cover. Other consoles have done something like this in the past but it is interesting that the new console from Sony is wrapped in something like this.
Regardless, this gives the gaming community a short teaser with regards to opening the Xbox Series X for the first time. While this isn’t the first time that an Xbox Series X has been leaked, it is the first time anyone has unboxed it. However, the video doesn’t give gaming enthusiasts the full picture in terms of what to anticipate.
With the full unboxing video no longer available on YouTube, and that the quality of the GIF is a little bit poor, this leaves gamers with only a glimpse of what’s to come. It is also interesting that the man in the video now owns an actual Xbox Series X itself but he will unlikely be doing anything with it since games for the next-gen consoles haven’t been released yet.
