Call of Duty: Vanguard will be getting an alpha as soon as next weekend. During the CDL Championship, the alpha for Call of Duty: Vanguard was revealed with a new video including some of the first genuine gameplay footage. The teaser offers fans a sense of how Sledgehammer Games is reimagining the long-running game and reveals the existence of a new mode dubbed Champions Hill.
Call of Duty: Vanguard, the franchise’s newest addition, was introduced this week with a Warzone event and a cinematic video. The game will transport players back to WWII, although it will not focus on a specific period of the conflict.
Players will alternate between four characters fighting on four distinct fronts, including the Pacific and North Africa. Sledgehammer has released a few details about the multiplayer but appears to be holding back on going into too much detail until a complete announcement at a later date.
Having said that, gamers will get a taste of multiplayer around the end of August. Activision released the first glimpse at the game’s alpha during the CDL Championship. This should come as no surprise given that a Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha was released a few days ago.
It looks that all of the information in the leak is correct. The alpha will be available only to PlayStation players and will include Champions Hill, a mode akin to Apex Legends’ Arena mode. The mode will combine battle royale and Gunfight aspects, requiring players to start with identical loadouts and then acquire weapons, cash, and resources to get stronger while whittling down the other players’ limited lives throughout several rounds.
The multiplayer will be fully shown on September 7, followed by the first beta weekend on September 10, which will be restricted to PlayStation preorders. Beginning September 16, Xbox and PC pre-orders will be able to participate in the beta before it opens to the general public on September 18.
The beta period will expire on September 20th. There’s still a lot to discover about Call of Duty: Vanguard. Still, it appears Activision has a strategy in place to keep gamers interested as the game approaches its November release.
Although the alpha is only the beginning and a tiny portion of the game, it will give players a fair understanding of what the game is about. The clip showed off some of the new elements, such as the ability to blast up barriers and generate new sightlines on the map, which could be a fun way to keep battles feeling fresh. The alpha will be the first opportunity for players to see if Sledgehammer has effectively innovated on the franchise while still returning to basics via WWII.
In any case, Call of Duty: Vanguard is attempting to please fans with new features like as an anti-cheat system and the reintroduction of fan favorites such as the Gunsmith. It remains to be seen whether or not it will truly function. Sledgehammer is also set to show off the first video from Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign on August 25 at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
