Capcom’s new cryptic IP Pragmata appears to have been postponed to 2023. The new game was one of the titles that were featured during the PlayStation 5 reveal event held last June 2020 and its trailer contained a dozen of tonal and graphical resemblance to Death Stranding by Hideo Kojima with its remarkably cryptic premise and sci-fi themes. It was originally revealed by Capcom to be launched sometime in 2022 for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and the PlayStation 5.
The launch date for Pragmata was also apparently announced back during the huge Capcom leak that happened back in November 2020 which saw the information of many of Capcom’s upcoming games shown to the public such as their game’s launch dates.
Intriguingly, while Paramata wasn’t particularly named in the leak, one of the games that were listed was called Regolith, which many took to be the alias for Pragmata. Although, the leak listed that game for a 2021 fiscal year launch, which would be imprecise as the title has previously been declared for a 2022 launch and is way beyond that leaked launch window.
Now fans have some more credible new information on the title’s launch date. During Sony’s CES 2021 digital event, the PlayStation 5 and some of the titles that had been previously revealed to be launched for it, including Pragmata, were teased in a brief showcase trailer. At the near end of the event, the launch windows of a few of the forthcoming games were shown and revealed that the launch window of Pragmata has been pushed back to sometime in 2023, a rather huge difference from its originally revealed 2022 launch date.
Provided that the change in the title’s launch was only displayed in the presentation’s end card, it’s uncertain why Capcom has decided to delay the launch of its new IP a year back, but it wouldn’t be shocking if the ongoing global pandemic has affected Capcom’s development plans for the next several years for a few of its forthcoming games.
And with so many major games presently in development at Capcom such as Resident Evil 8, Monster Hunter Rise, and a whole lot more, the hardships brought about by the coronavirus pandemic could surely ripple across all of its in-development games.
It might be a while until fans will know more about Pragmata aside from its launch window. There is also a possibility that it could be further delayed, which wouldn’t be surprising provided the number of video game launch postponements that have happened or been revealed in the previous year, with one of the most recent being Outriders, which has received its third push back since it was revealed.
