Dungeons and Dragons To Feature First Official Musical

The first-ever Dungeons & Dragons musical will be performed at D&D Celebration 2021, according to Wizards of the Coast. There are currently a number of unauthorized D&D musicals and songs available online, but they are all fan-made and not endorsed by the game’s creators.

D&D Celebration is an annual event that includes livestreamed Dungeons & Dragons games as well as announcements about new D&D books. The first-ever Dungeon Master Challenge will be held during D&D Celebration 2021, in which DMs from across the world battle to show who is the greatest, with new challenges unveiled each day to keep them on their toes.

The cast of Star Trek: Discovery will participate in a D&D game this year, and the last day of D&D Celebration 2021 will recognize the winner of the Dungeon Master Challenge and disclose fresh facts about the game’s future.

The first-ever official D&D musical will be presented live on the second day of D&D Celebration 2021. The Circus of Sound, a musical, will be performed on September 25 at 4 p.m. PDT/7 p.m. EDT. It’s likely that the storyline will revolve around the upcoming D&D game The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, which notably incorporates a carnival as a framing device. The Circus of Sound will wrap up the day’s activities with a two-hour performance.

Kelly D’Angelo (Miracle Workers) is the director of The Circus of Sound, and the players include musicians who have performed in films, television shows, video games, and theater. Anthony Rapp (Rent, Star Trek: Discovery), Jason Charles Miller (Godhead, Critical Role), Azie Dungey (Girls5eva, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Vico Ortiz (American Horror Story), and Mariah Rose Faith (American Horror Story) are among the members of the cast (Nightmare Time). It’s unclear if they’ll all be playing as D&D’s popular Bard class, but if there was ever a time to host an all-Bard D&D party, it seems like now might be the moment.

As previously stated, D&D Celebration 2021 will include in-depth examinations at forthcoming Dungeons & Dragons publications that will be released before the end of the year. The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, for example, is a campaign that takes players to the Feywild, the home of the D&D multiverse’s faeries; Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, which stats out the magical university from Magic: The Gathering and lets players play college student adventurers; and Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which will introduce new information about the D&D multiverse’s dragons.
