Fortnite has once again set a new record for the concurrent players joining in the recent end of season Galactus event. The legendary battle against the World Eater was the concluding event to Fortnite’s Season 4, although the surprise was already slightly spoiled by a leaked Galactus skin a few days before the event.
A few days prior to the epic conclusion of the Nexus War event, the Galactus skin set aside for the finale leaked online, revealing the precise exterior look of the major villain in Fortnite. The antagonist got a fairly threatening appearance, although Galactus did manifest some cartoonish features common for Epic Games’ battle royale title. Before the event began, players expressed that they are hoping that the leaked Galactus skin should be procurable for later use, but that would have gone against Season 4’s entire premise.
The finale battle against Galactus in Fortnite proved to be so prominent that Epic Games revealed a new record set by their gaming community. According to Epic Games’ tweet, there were 15.3 million concurrent players who logged in to take down the menacing villain.
We defeated him! A record 15.3 million concurrent players joined forces in our biggest event ever to fight back Galactus in today's in-game event, while more than 3.4 million cheered and watched on @YouTubeGaming and @Twitch! pic.twitter.com/IAcNpcPKEw

This is the biggest online number in the entire game’s history, with another 3.5 million viewers participating in the hype while watching the final battle streamed live on YouTube and Twitch. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 ended in a legendary event featuring the World Eater who was attempting to attack and destroy Battle Island.
Fortunately, Iron Man came just in time with his latest invention to stop the archenemy, as players were granted the ability to fly countless myriad of modified Battle Buses right into the mouth of the world-devouring cosmic villain.
Fortnite’s entire Season 4 was completely based on Marvel superheroes and villains such as Wolverine, Iron Man, and Thor coming to the Battle Island to stop the assault brought by Galactus. The antagonist was on his way to destroy the whole island, while in the meantime, players worked their way to obtain various alluring cosmetics and hero skins. During the previous months, the Fortnite gaming community saw the coming of tons of additional Marvel characters such as Black Widow, Ghost Rider, and Daredevil alongside themed tournaments.
It appears like the partnership with Marvel significantly boosted Fortnite’s popularity which resulted in a new remarkable record. For a game that is now three years old fighting against a competitive and saturated battle royale scene, this is a superbly incredible achievement, which will be hard to beat – if possible at all.
