As players prepare for the launch of the first season of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War next week, a recent leak unveils Call of Duty Warzone is getting new content as well. Leaked photos of promotional content have been going around Call of Duty’s data mining community. Since its release a few months ago, Warzone’s F2P multiplayer has only featured a single map – Verdansk.
Warzone is set to receive an expansive collection of new content as part of the developer’s “classified Warzone experience” when Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 1 kicks off on December 10. The photo that the developers issued via its promotional content featured a hint that sharp-eyed players instantly figured out.
The blurred text was not totally legible but players discovered the phrase “…eniya Island.” This clue is essential because it seems to refer to “Vozrozhdeniya Island”, which is the Russian translation for Rebirth Island.

This map first appeared in the original 2010 Call of Duty Black Ops game as the setting of the main campaign mission having the same name, Rebirth, starts. There have been speculations that a new map would be added to Warzone and this new leak appears to verify those claims.
The recent leak came from a Twitter post by BlackOpsLeaks. The photos feature a new area cleverly named Rebirth Island. The image shows the Call of Duty Warzone logo as well as the phrase “Rebirth Island” directly beneath it.
Behind the title in the leaked photo is a small island with steep terrains and mountains. According to sources, it is still uncertain when the developers will disclose any new information about the leaked content.
While Activision has yet to confirm this, it seems likely that Rebirth Island will be a standalone map. Considering that Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War launched just last month, along with the upcoming release of its first season, it was always possible that Call of Duty Warzone would get a new map. Based on the leaked photos, the new map appears to be a lot smaller than Verdansk, which means fans who love close combat fights will love this change of scenery.
The leaked revelation of Rebirth Island comes during a busy time for Treyarch and Activision. Warzone is currently integrated with both Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare, with all three games joining in a brand new progression system that is distinct to the Call of Duty franchise.
All of the new content, cosmetics, and weapons included in the Black Ops Cold War full game are also available in Warzone. This same setting exists for Modern Warfare, despite all three titles taking place in various time periods.
With this in mind, it only makes sense that Rebirth Island is a new map since it is meant to coexist with the Cold War era. This would ensure a total crossover of weapons, gear, and outfits between Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Activision has made it certain that fans will have to wait before they will be provided more information about Rebirth Island. For now, the only clue they can rely on is the leaked photos.
