Fortnite has found a way to commemorate the New Year, at least based on a new video that has leaked all over the internet. The game has been having themed events for the past few years that have been held to commemorate various holidays and it appears a new one will emerge as soon as the next year begins.
The hit battle royale title has been going strong for more than three years now since its launch back in 2017. After the release of the famous season method that they have been utilizing for some time, Fortnite has been able to retain players and keep them engaged with new weapons, skins, and maps as the years have gone by.
Just a few days ago, they even started a new subscription service that provides even more special skins to players if they want to sign up for it. Events have also had a strong pull on fans, who usually like to join in weekly tasks that provide them with new weapons, rewards, and other prizes.

However, it appears that a huge part of the New Year’s event has been unveiled because of a leak posted by InTheShade on Twitter. If the leaker is to believe and everything goes seamlessly, players will have the opportunity to play along a big rift that emerges in the sky, as fireworks explore all over the map.
Fireworks do seem like a suitable option to celebrate the New Year, so it was only a matter of time before the developers tried to integrate them into the game. However, according to the leak, a lot of players speculate that there will be lesser interactivity in the event compared to previous similar events and more of a sight to watch.
That’s not to say that it’s a bad thing as the fireworks still add a lot of color to the sky and the rift will surely be impressive to watch. It will certainly be an interesting approach to the New Year event. Dataminers have been working hard recently, as they also just uncovered and leaked a new Gnome gun that shoots gnomes out of its barrel – along with explosive trolls. So it’s not like Fortnite’s developers aren’t working enough to keep their player base entertained.
There are various other new events and items that will be happening alongside the New Year event including the release of the new Green Arrow skin as well as the continuation of the game’s fifth season.
