It appears that one of miHoYo’s greatest decisions this year was releasing Genshin Impact on a global scale, as the title has been on the up and up again since its launch. Many western fans have become infatuated with this free-to-play action RPG, with its expansive roster of playable characters and amazing art style.
As a matter of fact, Genshin Impact has been performing so well ever since version 1.0 was released, so much so that it’s now considered to be one of the biggest mobile launches of all time.
According to Sensor Tower, the Chinese title has accumulated nearly $250 million in revenue on mobile devices ever since its launch this year near the end of September. As a result of this incredible amount, Genshin Impact ranks first as the highest-grossing mobile title worldwide for the past month.
In second place comes Honor of Kings, with almost $30 million separating the two. On the other hand, more or less $50 million separates Genshin Impact from PUBG Mobile, which is in third place.
These aren’t the only records Genshin Impact has broken due to these incredible numbers. More specifically, the online multiplayer game is currently the second most successful in terms of mobile launch, with titles such as Fire Emblem Heroes accumulating around $70 million and Fortnite garnering $25 million during the first months of their respective mobile releases.
The only other game that was able to make more money through its players during its first month of release was Pokemon Go, which was able to accumulate roughly $283 million. For those players who have been keeping an eye on Genshin Impact’s progress, this new record might not come as a surprise.
After all, the title was able to reach 17 million mobile downloads alone during its first four days. Shortly after this announcement, it was unveiled that miHoYo was able to make $100 million on Genshin Impact alone. In other words, the developer was able to regain the money they used to develop the game.
It’s also great that Genshin Impact’s fanbase is so passionate about the game. Asides from spending hours on end playing it, some have dedicated a portion of their time making fan art and cosplays of the various characters you’ll find in-game.
Not only that, but the community itself strives to help each other out. Some fans have even created helpful infographics that significantly improve the gameplay experience of other players.
That being said, it appears that miHoYo really cares about its players as well, and this can be seen in the way the developer has been releasing updates containing quality of life improvements and bug fixes that undoubtedly make the game perform better than it already does.
For instance, there’s a possibility that miHoYo will be greatly improving Genshin Impact’s fast travel system, which is a highly-appreciated feature in an expansive open-world game such as this.
In addition to that, it’s said that a later update will contain a detector that makes it easier for players to track down Anemoculus and Geoculus. Without a doubt, there’s a lot to look forward to in Genshin Impact and we believe that the title will only achieve even more going forward.
