God of War Ragnarok Gameplay Trailer Released

The PlayStation Showcase’s announcement sent shockwaves across the gaming world, especially because it promised to showcase forthcoming Christmas games and more. The important term here is “beyond,” since many people interpreted this to include huge 2022 games like God of War II, Horizon Forbidden West, and maybe more.

Thanks to a credible leak of God of War’s attendance, it was immediately revealed that Kratos and Atreus would be there. And the event didn’t disappoint, presenting a new teaser for the forthcoming God of War: Ragnarok, which has now been officially dubbed God of War: Ragnarok.

The trailer begins with Atreus meeting Kratos in a cave, where they debate the Ragnarok prophesy and Atreus’ status as Loki. As he looks to be a few years older, he appears to desire to help people and has definitely grown. He also asks Kratos whether war with Asgard is what his mother desired, which enrages Kratos. Overall, the teaser appears to depict them on a journey for a crucial ally: Tyr, the Norse God of War.

Aside from that, the teaser depicts Kratos and Atreus fighting and riding dogsleds. Overall, it’s as spectacular as many had anticipated, and while there’s no news on when God of War: Ragnarok will be released, things appear to be looking up for 2022. Santa Monica Studio would go on to reveal a few additional information for the upcoming game outside of the teaser.

For example, the studio affirms that Thor and Frey are the major villains in this title, which is no stretch of the imagination. This raises a lot of questions for Odin, but it also speaks well for a third game. In and of itself, playing as Kratos and facing up against Thor is enticing. Furthermore, “Atreus’ actual heritage” is a significant aspect of the game, as Atreus questions who Loki is in the trailer.

The game will also have new runes and abilities for both Kratos and Atreus from God of War: Ragnarok, as well as the ability to traverse all nine worlds. While fans have been waiting for this trailer for a long time, and there are still many unanswered issues, it’s difficult to think how its first public showing could have been any better.
