When developer Avalanche Software revealed Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy last September, fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter were thrilled, especially since a lot is waiting for the confirmation of the long-awaited Harry Potter RPG Game. Aside from the reveal trailer that gave fans a glimpse of what to expect, much of what Hogwarts Legacy will offer still remains unknown.
Now, speculations are appearing on the internet that Hogwarts Legacy will feature a multiplayer mode that will let players team up with friends and take on raids inside Hogwarts as well as its nearby areas. It’s presently not clear where this speculation began, especially since there are countless rumors going around on the internet.
However, those who are hoping to see a Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer mode may be disappointed since Avalance Software confirmed that the game will only feature a single-player experience.
Alongside the game’s announcement is a comprehensive FAQ section that fans can read on the developer’s official website. Based on the FAQs, Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy is an “open-world, single-player, action role-playing videogame set in the 1800s wizarding world.” It is also worth mentioning that the page never cited any kind of multiplayer modes or functionality, so those who are expecting this feature should take the speculations with a decent amount of doubt for now.
Of course, the game is still in its initial stages of development, and Avalanche Software still hasn’t announced any other details about the game aside from its reveal trailer. With this in mind, there is still a chance that a multiplayer mode will be added, but it will most likely be just a mini-mode or DLC expansion that players can embark on after finishing the main campaign.
There is also the probability that the development team may be fooling around with what the game will offer for now to have some kind of surprise reveal of its multiplayer mode in the future. Regardless, fans should take note that the single-player campaign will be the game’s main focus, and any kind of multiplayer mode will possibly be just an add-on.
Meanwhile, despite the game being just revealed, it has already encountered few criticisms because of its indirect association with Harry Potter’s author, J.K. Rowling. To the unaware, Rowling is currently in hot water for stating transphobic opinions online, and provided that she is the source of everything associated with the Harry Potter series, some players are uniting to boycott the upcoming game.
