If you don’t find yourself glued on your couch watching “Game of Thrones,” you will likely see yourself watching “House of the Dragon.” After all, the latter is also part of the groundbreaking “Games of Thrones” universe.

You can find several interesting and compelling characters in “House of the Dragon.” You have Ser Criston Cole, Corlys Velaryon, Aemond Targaryen, Viserys Targaryen, and Rhaenyra Targaryen.

And, of course, will we ever forget about Ser Harwin Strong? This story will closely examine this beloved “House of the Dragon” character.

Ser Harwin Strong: A Profile

For those who have yet to watch “House of the Dragon,” spoilers are ahead.

Ser Harwin Strong is Lord Lyonel Strong’s eldest son. Harwin is also the heir to the title of Lord of Harrenhal.

A genuinely accomplished knight of the kingdom, Ser Harwin is famous for his strength and nicknamed “Breakbones.”

He also has a younger brother named Larys.

Being a regular feature at the Red Keep’s court in King’s Landing, Harwin is seen rising to the position of Commander of the City Watch.

In the book “Fire and Blood,” one of the bases of “House of the Dragon,” Ser Harwin has become Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen’s admirer and protector. Thus, he has found himself at the center of talks, saying he might be the father of the Rhaenyra’s three sons, princes Jacaerys Velaryon, Lucerys Velaryon, and Joffrey Velaryon.

Portrayed By A Talented Actor

In the show, Australian actor Ryan Corr portrays Ser Harwin. Corr is best known for his roles in Australian drama series, “Love Child” and “Packed to the Rafters.”

Moreover, this actor is also notable for his roles in films, “The Water Diviner,” “Wolf Creek 2,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Holding the Man,” and “Mary Magdalene,” which you may be familiar with.

The Death Of Ser Harwin Strong

As much as Ser Harwin’s character is well-loved, he actually dies in the series, just like the devastating deaths of Robb Stark, Ned Stark, Shireen Baratheon, Hodor, and more characters in “Game of Thrones.”

Again, spoilers are ahead.

Interestingly, Larys, Harwin’s brother, is responsible for his murder, as the former orchestrates the burning of Harrenhal.

Earlier, Alicent Hightower, the second wife to King Viserys I Targaryen, confides in Larys regarding her frustrations in the Keep, specifically how Rhaenyra gets away with her three children born out of wedlock and still keeps showing off her inheritance while nobody is taking her side.

After being told Viserys did not let his dad step back as Hand, he states it is a mistake since Lord Lyonel cannot anymore provide impartial advice to the King.

Later on, in the dead of night, Harwin’s brother frees three prisoners sentenced to death and then cuts off their tongues. These men are the same guys lingering around Harrenhal. They are also among the perpetrators of Ser Harwin’s death.

While his motives for killing Ser Harwin have not been confirmed, by following the story, you can ascertain that with him and Lyonel dead, Larys can inherit Harrenhal.

Knowingly, he also places Alicent in a tough position, who is plagued with guilt over any kind of involvement in Harwin’s murder.

In “Fire and Blood,” Larys was among the various suspects, alongside Daemon Targaryen, Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Viserys himself.
