The display also supports 10-bit color bit depth and covers 100 percent of the sRGB and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Its display, in particular, delivers 300 nits of typical brightness, 2000:1 static contrast ratio, 5 ms GTS response time at fast, and 8 ms GTG response time at average. 

Plus, it also features impressive Dual 9W stereo speakers for an even better experience with this display. 

The monitor also has five USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports. One of them supports battery charging, which is perfect for users often on the go. Moreover, there are also two USB 3.2 Gen-2 Type-C downstream ports with 15W power delivery.

Meanwhile, in other news about Dell, the company announced today that it is adding more capabilities to its customer solutions center in Limerick, Ireland, and launching a new start-up accelerator bound to support innovation in emerging technologies.

With this collaboration, the facility will be donned with upgrades that cover edge computing, computer vision, advanced analytics, and private wireless networking. Before the weekend, Malaysia said it is seeking legal action against Meta, the parent company of Facebook, for failing to tear down posts that the former said are “undesirable.” Keep on reading for the details of this news.

Malaysian gov’t vs. Meta

Facebook, one of the platforms under Meta, is Malaysia’s biggest social media platform. According to the website Commission Factory, there are around 20 million active users of Facebook in Malaysia.  

Malaysia’s incumbent prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, and his administration have been active in regulating social media posts that are offensive to race and religion. He has probably learned from the elections that swore him to office, which have led to a significant increase in ethnic tensions.  

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said Facebook has recently been “plagued” by a significant volume of “undesirable” content that touch on race, royalty, religion, impersonation, defamation, and even scams. 

“Meta’s response, which has been sluggish and unsatisfactory, has not met the urgency of the matter and has led to increasing public concern and scrutiny,” the commission told news outlets. “As there is no sufficient cooperation from Meta, MCMC has no option but to take definitive steps or legal action against Meta as a measure to ensure that people are secure and protected in the physical sphere.”

MCMC added that it would not tolerate abuse of these platforms that gives way to “malicious cyber activities, phishing or any content that threatens racial stability, social harmony and defies respect for the rulers.” 

Abuse

The commission also detailed what legal action it might take. According to an emailed statement on Saturday, Meta’s offenses could be allowing abuse of network facilities or application services under the country’s Communications and Multimedia Act of 1998.

Under this law, the commission said that company officials, such as those of Meta, could be charged for “wilfully providing means and aiding criminal activity” if immediate action is not taken.

Meta has not yet released any official statement as of press time. 

Sensitive issues

Conversations on race and religion are sensitive points in Malaysia, where there is a majority of Muslim ethnic Malays, ethnic Chinese minorities, and ethnic Indian minorities.

Hashtagged “#BestPhonesForever,” which is seemingly a wordplay for “best friends forever,” the ads are titled “Plateau,” “Seeing Stars,” “Sketchy Wi-Fi,” “Lifesaver,” and “Opening Up.” Let’s take a closer look at each of these ads. 

‘Plateau’

In the first ad, Google Pixel 7 Pro is seen with iPhone 14 Pro looking at the views atop a plateau until the latter opened up something. 

iPhone 14 Pro told Google Pixel 7 Pro, “Pixel, I need to tell you something… The way [they] compliment your photos, ‘So sharp!’… Astrophotography mode, Call Assist, 30x Zoom. You can do so many things I may never be able to.

“No! Don’t say that,” the Google phone told Apple’s.

“It’s true. I’m actually jealous of your AI,” iPhone 14 Pro responded.

The second advertisement in the series that showcases the Google Pixel 7 Pro’s astrophotography features, titled “Seeing Stars,” has the phone and iPhone 14 Pro stargazing. 

“Wow! This is awesome,” said Google Pixel 7 Pro. “Makes you think there’s no way we can be alone amongst all these thousands of stars.”

“Thousands?” iPhone 14 Pro asked.

“There! The Lagoon Nebula. Oh, and I see the Andromeda Galaxy,” the Google phone replied.

“It must be nice to see them the way you do,” Apple’s phone remarked. Oops.

‘Sketchy Wi-Fi’

The third ad, “Sketchy Wi-Fi,” boasts Google Pixel 7 Pro’s VPN features for added security. And as usual, the ad has presented Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro in a bad light again since it does not have this feature. 

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I’m freaking out! Quick, get off the public Wi-Fi. There are hackers in this place,” iPhone 14 Pro said.

“It’s okay. I come with my own VPN, which helps keep me safe,” Google Pixel 7 Pro boasted.

‘Lifesaver’

Meanwhile, in the following ad in the series, titled “Lifesaver,” the two phones were at the beach, and when Google Pixel 7 Pro invited iPhone 14 Pro that they go shoot some videos, the former saw the latter’s battery drained. 

So, what Google Pixel 7 Pro did was share its battery with iPhone 14 Pro, bringing the latter back to life once again. 

“Thank you for juicing me up,” iPhone 14 Pro told the Google phone. “I didn’t even know that was possible.”

‘Opening Up’

But wait, there’s more! In the last ad in the series, titled “Opening Up,” the two phones are bonding again. At one point, Google Pixel 7 Pro asked iPhone 14 Pro if it noticed something new about the former. The Apple phone kept guessing until Google Pixel 7 Pro showed itself being foldable. iPhone 14 fainted.

These text strings only go to show that Apple Vision’s “Travel Mode” is designed to ease the passenger and the headset user’s constraints given the situation inside an airplane cabin. 

Caveats

However, this “Travel Mode” feature in Vision Pro has a few caveats. For instance, since Apple Vision Pro is dependent on sensing the user’s movement and gestures to work, this may go in conflict with the limited motion they can do when inside an airplane where, most of the time, passengers stay stationary unless they want to hit other passengers. 

Also, “Travel Mode” means digital personas won’t be available, and the gaze accuracy will be reduced. It is not yet clear why, but it is still due to space constraints while inside an aircraft.

Meanwhile, since visionOS is now available for developers, these individuals can start taking advantage of the groundbreaking features of Apple Vision Pro.
