Bing gets new mobile-focused features, including widget, additional Composition tones

0

Microsoft is introducing a bunch of new Bing-related features to its different apps, including Bing, Edge, SwiftKey, and Skype. The features rolling out today are focused on smartphone users, with the company bringing various Bing and Edge desktop features to mobile.

One of the biggest parts of the announcement is the new Bing widget for iOS and Android phones. According to Microsoft, the widget is designed to allow users to jump into the Bing Chat experience immediately with just a tap, adding users can use the device’s microphone to interact with Bing. Speaking of voice input, Microsoft said Bing also received voice and multilingual chat enhancements, so chat and voice interactions with Bing from various users around the globe should improve better starting today.

Smartphone users can also now continue their desktop conversation with Bing with the new QR code scanning on Bing. The Redmond company said it is now rolling out and accessible via the phone icon in the options menu when the answers are clicked on the desktop.

If you are using SwiftKey on your mobile device, you should also now get Bing’s Compose feature (initially available in the Edge sidebar on desktop), allowing it to write compositions for you based on your tone (now includes “Witty” and “Funny” tones), format, and length preferences. This Bing-related update in SwiftKey also brings Microsoft’ AI-powered translator, making it a built-in accessible feature for phones.

Given the series of mobile-centered features mentioned above, it is no surprise that the company is also bringing other Bing and Edge desktop features to smartphones. As such, aside from the Compose feature, Bing on Edge on mobile will soon be able to perform contextual chat from the current page you are viewing. This means apart from summarizing pages, you can directly ask Bing on Edge about the details of the page you are reading. Similarly, the bot will also consider the page’s content being viewed by the user when responding to queries. In the future, Microsoft said you could also highlight certain texts in Edge and ask Bing to clarify their details.

Bing for Skype is also getting improvement, though it is not just for smartphone users. As Microsoft shared, Bing can now be added to any group chat by tagging @Bing directly with “no need for participants to search for Bing to add it to their contacts.”

The software giant stressed that the releases were “just the start of the next 100 days of AI-powered Bing,” adding that it saw “an 8x increase in daily downloads” since the launch of the revamped search engine. However, recent data show that Bing and Edge barely make dents on Google Search and Chrome’s market share despite Microsoft’s relentless efforts. Unfortunately, these numbers could worsen for Microsoft, especially with Google’s recent advances in its AI initiatives. During its 2023 I/O conference, the search titan confirmed a slew of new AI creations. The event highlighted a lot of things, but one of its main stars was the “smarter” Bard, which is expected to boost Google Search and other products further and bring Bing to complete oblivion.

Google Personal Safety app’s new ‘Dashcam’ feature turns your Android phone into a dashcam

0

Google’s Personal Safety app has a new ‘Dashcam’ feature, allowing certain Android devices to work like dashcam cameras. The feature was spotted after Google reportedly released a “dogfood” build of the app by mistake.

The discovery was shared by 9To5Google, which noted that the version of the app uploaded to the Play Store was called “version 2023.04.27.532191641.8-dogfood.” According to the report, the feature was only available to certain Android devices (Google Pixel and Nothing Phone 1) when it was tested. Although there are no clear descriptions of whether the feature will be exclusive to Google, this limited availability might indicate a tiny bit of such a possibility.

The feature will have its dedicated button right under the “Be prepared” section of the app, and Google reportedly made it as convenient as possible. The feature will also optimize the Android device to make it capable of storing hour-long recordings without draining the battery.

It activates via the vehicle’s Bluetooth and deactivates once the connection ends. Google’s description says it can store up to 24 hours of video, with audio recording options. And while each minute can consume 30 MB, the app will compress them to save space without losing the quality of the video. Moreover, any unsaved videos will also be deleted after three days, allowing you it reuse your device’s storage repeatedly. Also, the feature will work in the background, which means you can use your phone for other purposes or lock the screen and it will continue recording.

These capabilities can certainly transform an Android device into an effective dashcam, but Google is not the first to introduce the idea of using phones as dashcams. On Play Store, different apps can also turn any smartphone into a dashcam unit and even offers more features and settings, including support for multiple languages and driving trajectory and speed recording. That said, adding the feature to the Personal Safety app might not be a huge deal anymore. Yet, given the feature is still to be announced and with Google making significant AI investments recently, we’re hoping the company could add more thrilling capabilities to the dashcam feature before it releases it officially.

The Impact of Social Media APIs on Business Marketing Strategies

0

In recent years, social media platforms have become a powerful tool for businesses to connect with customers, advertise their products, and grow their brands. With the help of Data365 APIs, businesses can now integrate various social media platforms into their marketing strategies, harnessing the power of social media data to make informed decisions and enhance their marketing efforts. This article will explore the impact of Social Media APIs on business marketing strategies and discuss how businesses can leverage these APIs to achieve marketing success.

Leveraging Social Media APIs for Marketing Success

Enhancing Customer Engagement and Brand Awareness

One of the main benefits of using social media APIs is the ability to enhance customer engagement and brand awareness. By integrating social media platforms into their marketing strategies, businesses can interact with customers in real time, respond to their queries and concerns, and create a personalized experience for each user. This, in turn, helps to build trust and loyalty among customers, fostering long-term relationships and driving brand awareness.

Moreover, businesses can utilize social media APIs to analyze user behavior and preferences, allowing them to tailor their content and promotions to the specific needs and interests of their target audience. By delivering personalized and relevant content, businesses can improve customer satisfaction, increase engagement levels, and ultimately, drive more conversions and sales.

Expanding Market Reach and Customer Acquisition

Another significant advantage of using social media APIs is the ability to expand market reach and acquire new customers. With billions of users worldwide, social media platforms offer a vast pool of potential customers for businesses to tap into. By leveraging social media APIs, businesses can easily integrate their marketing efforts across multiple platforms, ensuring a consistent and unified brand presence.

Furthermore, businesses can use social media APIs to access and analyze data from various platforms, enabling them to identify new market segments and target audiences based on demographics, interests, and behaviors. This data-driven approach allows businesses to optimize their marketing campaigns, reach a broader audience, and acquire new customers more effectively.

Streamlining Marketing Efforts and Enhancing Collaboration

Social media APIs also play a crucial role in streamlining marketing efforts and enhancing collaboration among team members. By integrating social media platforms into their marketing tools and systems, businesses can automate routine tasks, such as content scheduling, analytics reporting, and customer relationship management, allowing their marketing team to focus on more strategic initiatives.

Moreover, social media APIs enable businesses to create a centralized platform for managing all their social media accounts, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration among team members. This not only improves efficiency but also ensures that marketing campaigns are executed consistently across all platforms, maximizing their impact and return on investment.

Analyzing Social Media Data through APIs for Business Insights

Gaining Valuable Insights into Customer Behavior and Preferences

One of the most significant benefits of using social media APIs is the ability to access a wealth of data on customer behavior and preferences. This data can provide valuable insights into customer needs, interests, and pain points, allowing businesses to make informed decisions and tailor their marketing strategies accordingly.

For instance, by analyzing social media data, businesses can identify trending topics and popular content formats that resonate with their target audience. This information can be used to create content that not only drives engagement but also addresses customer needs and interests, ultimately leading to increased conversions and sales.

Monitoring Brand Sentiments and Reputation

Another vital aspect of social media data analysis is monitoring brand sentiments and reputation. By using social media APIs to access and analyze data from various platforms, businesses can gauge customer perceptions of their brand and products, allowing them to address any potential issues and maintain a positive brand image.

Furthermore, businesses can leverage social media data to identify influencers and advocates who can help amplify their brand message and drive customer engagement. By partnering with these influencers, businesses can reach a wider audience, boost brand credibility, and ultimately, drive more conversions and sales.

Identifying Market Trends and Opportunities

Social media data analysis can also help businesses identify market trends and opportunities. By monitoring conversations and discussions on social media platforms, businesses can gain insights into emerging trends, customer pain points, and potential gaps in the market. This information can be used to inform product development, marketing strategies, and business decisions, ensuring that businesses remain competitive and relevant in today’s fast-paced digital landscape.

In conclusion, the impact of social media APIs on business marketing strategies is immense. By leveraging these APIs, businesses can enhance customer engagement and brand awareness, expand market reach and customer acquisition, and streamline marketing efforts and collaboration. Additionally, the ability to analyze social media data through APIs provides valuable insights into customer behavior and preferences, brand sentiments and reputation, and market trends and opportunities. Finally, social media APIs enable businesses to build custom applications tailored to their specific needs and requirements, ultimately driving marketing success and business growth.

iPhone Users Can Now Text Using Their Windows 11 PCs – iPhone News

Instant messaging, such as this feature on iPhones, has allowed people to connect and interact with others like never before. This time, you can now text using your Windows 11 PC as you would do on your iPhone.

In such a revolutionary move, Microsoft on Monday fully rolled out a feature that will allow for the syncing of calls, contacts, and messages, including iMessage support, between an iPhone and PC.

“We are pleased to announce that Phone Link for iOS is now available to all Windows 11 customers,” Windows said in its official blog post.

Windows added that Microsoft Phone Link for iOS on Windows 11 has started to roll out to audiences worldwide in 39 languages across 85 markets.

Recently, they announced that Windows 11 was expanding its Phone Link feature to foster more connection between a Windows 11 PC and an iOS mobile device, thereby removing all barriers between phones and PCs, and making it easier to connect with others seamlessly.

This means that if your phone is away from you during a presentation or while you are at work using your Windows 11 PC, you can receive notifications on this PC and choose which action to take – all on your Windows 11 PC.

How to get started with this new, awesome feature

To get started using this new feature, search for “Phone Link” in your Windows taskbar. After launching the app, you will be required to set up some things on both devices.

First, choose iPhone as your device type. Then, use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code found in the Phone Link app. The devices will then pair over Bluetooth. You will also need to confirm various permissions on both iPhone and PC.

This new feature supports all iPhones running iOS 14.0 or later.

Limitations

However, those who have started using this new feature of Phone Link for iPhone noticed there are limitations. These limitations are not found when using Android phones.

First, though the feature supports iMessage syncing, it does not yet work with group chats, or sending images and videos. Furthermore, voice messages and iMessage apps also do not sync.

Nevertheless, this new feature is a helpful way to save you from constantly switching between your PC and iPhone.

Background

Phone Link has been around since 2015, particularly when syncing Android devices. However, this is the first time it has supported iPhones.

Late last February, Microsoft did a phased launch with select Windows Insider preview testers. Then, around last month, the company started rolling out general availability, promising this would support all Windows 11 users by mid-way.

Just in time, right? So, what are you waiting for? Try this new feature today.

Breaking News: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Z Fold 5 To Be Unveiled This July 26 In Korea – Samsung News

0

Recent rumors suggest that Samsung might launch its next-generation foldable phones earlier than expected. Now, we got a date.

Usually, the South Korean multinational company unveils new Galaxy Z series phones in August every year. But according to a recent news report from South Korean publication Chosun Media, two of the biggest announcements during the Galaxy Unpacked event this July 26th would be the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold 5.

Now that is two weeks earlier than Samsung’s usual announcement time frame for its foldable phones. Moreover, unlike previous Galaxy Unpacked events held in Barcelona in Span, or New York or San Francisco in the United States, this upcoming launch event will happen in Seoul, South Korea.

Are you excited? Let’s look at what we know so far about these foldable phones’ features.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5

For the design, early reports and rumors say that the Galaxy Z Flip5’s cover display will be shaped almost like a square, then covering more of the gadget’s “lid.” This larger cover screen should give users easier access to more One UI features and increase the phone’s usability when folded shut. Furthermore, Samsung might keep the same hinge design as before.

For the specifications, sources say that Samsung will develop three storage variants for this phone, specifically 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Plus, like the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will feature faster UFS 4.0 storage. However, since Samsung does not make UFS 4.0 chips for devices with a storage capacity of less than 256GB, the 128GB variant will instead use UFS 3.1.

For the display, the Galaxy Z Flip5 may have the most extensive cover display among the rest of the foldable flip phones. Also, the panel could feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

For the camera, things are still unknown as of press time. For the software, Samsung might release the Galaxy Z Flip5 with a newer version of One UI running out of the box. It could be One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13 or One UI 6.0 based on 14.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Now, let’s head to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. For the display, the device might be wider than the previous units. Second, it may adopt a teardrop hinge and eliminate the gap between the two halves once the phone is folded shut. Do you ask about the S Pen? Well, some say it will have, while others say it won’t.

For the specifications, speculations say that Samsung will offer its Galaxy Z Fold 5 in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants. It will also use the UFS 4.0 storage specification, which offers higher transfer rates than the current UFS 3.1 solution. Also, the phone might use a chipset Qualcomm developed.

As for the display, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5’s cover screen may be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 or a newer solution that has yet to be revealed.

For the camera system, things are still bleak as of now, even in rumor mills. But, it has been said that the phone may feature a 108MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom features.

For the software, the company will probably launch this phone with a new version of One UI, perhaps One UI 5.1.1 (or an upgraded version) or One UI 6.0.

The two phones could go on sale this August 11th.

‘Trouble Ahead’: What Netizens Think About The New Twitter CEO – Twitter News

0

Just over six months after his controversial and much-talked-about takeover of the company, Elon Musk has named a new Twitter CEO. She is Linda Yaccarino.

The billionaire said Yaccarino would oversee Twitter’s business operations. Since Musk’s takeover, the social media platform has struggled to make money.

Musk also said the new Twitter CEO will start in six weeks. However, Musk will still remain involved as Twitter’s executive chairman and chief technology officer.

“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app,” Musk tweeted on Friday.

Yaccarino is a business executive known for her remarkable contributions to the media industry. She was the chair of advertising sales for NBCUniversal, a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate corporation in the United States. She is also the Executive Chair of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

What better way to find out the netizens’ pulse on this new announcement than by consulting Twitter on their thoughts about this new CEO of the popular social networking platform? Basically, the netizens’ reactions are mixed. Some are liking it, while others are not.

“What have you done #ElonMusk? #LindaYaccarino is pure concentrated evil…a diehard #WEF and #KlausSchwab loyalist.  She will destroy #Twitter by churning it into a WEF mouthpiece of #Censorship disguised as #FreeSpeech,” tweeted @judymorris3.

Meanwhile, @EstifWeldai aired investors’ sentiments, saying they are confused with Musk’s choice, given Yaccarino’s ties with the WEF.

“There may be trouble ahead,” meanwhile tweeted netizen @DVATW on Yaccarino being chosen as the new CEO of Twitter.

On the other hand, @dom_lucre congratulated the new Twitter CEO, saying, “Congratulations to the new CEO of Twitter. Linda Yaccarino, she isn’t an individual that can be labeled as a conservative or a liberal. She exist between both worlds. She has assisted Donald Trump and Joe Biden without bias. She has to fail for us to judge first.”

The newly appointed Twitter CEO tweeted on Saturday, saying she has been inspired by Musk’s vision to create a brighter future. Yaccarino also said she is excited to help transform the social media platform.

“Thank you @elonmusk! I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!” Yaccarino tweeted.

Amazon is hiring AI professionals to inject ‘conversational experience’ into product search

0

Amazon wants to enter the AI war by having its own generative AI creation for its product search. According to one of the job listings spotted by Bloomberg News, the company is looking for an engineer specializing in machine learning.

It is no doubt that big companies are now investing heavily in AI. After Microsoft revamped its services and products using OpenAI’s ChatGPT model, other giants like Google were forced to create their own entries. Both Microsoft and Google have already showcased how the AI models can be used in aiding their ad businesses, but Amazon wants to join too. According to a recent report, the company is now looking for professionals that will help in “reimagining Amazon Search” by building an “interactive conversational experience that helps you find answers to product questions, perform product comparisons, receive personalized product suggestions, and so much more.”

This is just one of the descriptions in the job listings by the company, but it seems it is determined to form a huge group that will be dedicated to this new initiative.

“This will be a once in a generation transformation for Search, just like the Mosaic browser made the Internet easier to engage with three decades ago,” Amazon details in one of the listings. “If you missed the 90s—WWW, Mosaic, and the founding of Amazon and Google—you don’t want to miss this opportunity.” And we might be seeing the changes sooner rather than later, as Amazon wants to “deliver this vision to our customers right away.”

Moreover, an Amazon spokesperson told The Verge that the company is “significantly investing in generative AI across all of our businesses,” which means we might see more than just a regular generative experience in the Amazon ecosystem in the future. And while there are still no clear details about the project’s timeframe, Amazon noted it wanted to “deliver this vision to our customers right away.”

Google and Microsoft already have clear plans on how they want to use generative AI on their platforms to promote sales. For Microsoft, it is already manifesting in the responses of its ChatGPT-powered Bing Chat, ranging from ad-supported product recommendations to links from different e-commerce websites. Yet, seeing this AI conversational feature directly available within the ecosystem of one of the biggest e-commerce platforms will be a game changer for the industry. And given that Amazon is often people’s go-to place for online purchases, having an AI-powered search might significantly boost Amazon’s business further.

Cisco, Villgro Partner To Choose 7 Winning Startups To Accelerate – Cisco Systems News

0

Cisco has recently partnered with Villgro to choose seven winning startups to explore and accelerate over the next months.

This program, named Project Tvaran, aims at supporting the growth and expansion of women-led social enterprises in climate action. The term “tvaran” means “acceleration” in Hindi. Each winning startup selected is focused on promoting climate resilience.

Founded in 2001, Villgro is a social enterprise incubator with a mission to create successful, innovative, and impactful social enterprises.

Villgro’s mission is aligned well with Cisco’s purpose to “power an inclusive future for all.” According to Cisco, their technology provides the security, connectivity, and user experience that lets people and organizations innovate, collaborate, and make a difference worldwide.

With Cisco and Villgro partnering together for Project Tvaran, they are able to realize their missions. Here is the news and a closer look at these winning startups.

  1. GreenGrahi Solutions

GreenGrahi Solutions is a circular economy company that upcycles food waste into top-notch plant and animal nutrition ingredients using an insect bio-conversion process.

They take food waste from bulk waste generators. Then, they let insects use these in climate-controlled chambers powered by an algorithm and a network of sensors. Finally, they convert the results into high-quality insect protein, fat, and fertilizer.

  1. Green Delight Innovations

Green Delight Innovations was founded to solve two major challenges stemming from plastic waste disposal.

First, the challenge with plastics. According to the website Down To Earth, almost 113,000 tons of hygiene products are disposed of yearly in India. Often, these are burnt for disposal, which may emit harmful gases and toxins into the atmosphere.

Then, the challenge with chemicals. BBC reported that almost 70 percent of India’s reproductive diseases are caused by poor sanitary pad hygiene. Green Delight Innovations aims to put an end to these problems.

  1. Bharat Krushi Seva

The third startup chosen by the partnership is Bharat Krushi Seva. They utilize remote sensing technology to drive digital and climate-smart agriculture, providing help for farmers so they can make more informed decisions and focus on precision farming. The gathered information is crucial for farmers looking to mitigate the impacts of climate change without compromising their profitable and sustainable farming practices.

  1. Swachha Eco Solutions

The use of packaged products, such as multi-layered plastic (MLP), has exponentially increased. Long-term exposure to the chemicals with this MLP results in water and soil pollution.

With the help of Swachha Eco Solutions, this MLP can be collated, shredded, and blended with hot bitumen. The formulated plastic waste mixture is then added to course aggregate, resulting in a mix that can be utilized for road construction and repair.

This startup aims to reduce emissions and lifecycle carbon intensity from dumped single-use plastics, such as MLPs.

  1. KNP Arises

The next organization chosen by the partnership is KNP Arises. This startup was founded to collect used cooking oil and convert it into fuel. This prevents severe health problems like non-communicable diseases, heart diseases, and organ damage that arise from reusing cooking oil.

  1. Farmers for Forests

Farmers for Forests was founded to restore and project India’s biodiverse forests in collaboration with agrarian and indigenous communities.

With the use of technological innovations like modified open-source artificial intelligence algorithms, satellite data, and drones, this startup is able to count trees, identify species, and track forest cover to know the health of trees and their risk potential for forest fires.

  1. Mowo Fleet

The last startup chosen by the Cisco and Villgro partnership to accelerate is Mowo Fleet.

Mowo Fleet gives women the steering wheel so they can participate in mobility-related livelihoods. This startup utilizes the best of technology to optimize and schedule commutes, as well as delivery services, so women can consider driving for their careers and also earn a living.

After spotting suicide-related terms, Google will help you write text messages asking for help

0

Google wants to help people compose messages that could help them in “reaching out to someone they trust.” In its plan, the search giant shared to roll out the feature to US-based users first, allowing them to access a selection of pre-composed messages that will automatically be pasted to their messaging app.

According to Google, it has been seeing a continuous increase in searches related to mental health crisis. In relation to that, the company rolled out an update in its search engine system last year using AI to detect suicide-related searches and suggest resources. Google now wants to beef things up further by offering people in crisis ready-to-send messages they can send to their trusted contacts.

“When someone is in a vulnerable situation, it can be difficult to put this experience into words and know what to say to ask for help,” shared Dr. Megan Jones Bell, Consumer and Mental Health Director at Google. “To better support people reaching out to someone they trust, starting soon in the U.S., when someone searches for suicide-related terms, they’ll see a prompt with conversation starters they can send via text message.”

As Bell detailed, the pre-written messages were composed with the help of the International Association for Suicide Prevention. They will be shown below the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and are supposed to “reduce the stigma of reaching out to ask for help.” Each suggested composition will display a short context of what the message is about to help people in crisis quickly choose the right one that suits their needs. For instance, there will be a dedicated message to help them “reach out,” “contact a loved one,” “express your feelings,” or just “check in.” There will also be a “Send a text” button in each pre-composed message that people in crisis can tap. The selected message will then be pasted into the messaging app, with the option to edit or send it as it is.

The announcement follows Google’s recent actions to better modify its platform in helping people in crisis. As the company said, “People often turn to Google Search in some of their most vulnerable moments.” As such, Google recently made updates involving eating disorder-related content on YouTube by adding age restrictions and a crisis resource panel under such videos and removing “certain content that shows or describes disordered eating behaviors such as binging or purging.”
