Meta Quest 3 is not coming out until the fall of this year. Still, there are already various news reports and official confirmation from Meta itself about the awesome features that the headset will carry, such as having the super lenses of Quest Pro.
The company behind Meta Quest 3 has confirmed that the Quest 3 successor will come armed with the same “pancake lenses” Quest Pro has, ultimately providing a tastier eye candy compared to its pricey counterpart.
A VR fan and Reddit user, Nikolai_Volkoff88, shared how they have tried Quest Pro and asked if its lenses will be in Quest 3.
The Redditor asked, “Finally tried the Quest Pro, the lenses are unbelievable. Does Quest 3 have these exact lenses? Has anyone found any confirmation that the Quest 3 will have the same exact lenses as the Quest Pro? Because these things are the star of the show, I have never seen such clarity in VR, it is amazing.”
MetaQuestSupport, which is an official Reddit account of Meta, responded to Nikolai_Volkoff88’s query, saying, “We can not divulge any information that has not become public, but we can certainly let you know about the information that has been released. The Quest 3 will have the pancake optics like the Quest Pro…”
The Meta Quest Pro is a mixed-reality headset developed by Reality Labs, a Meta Platforms division. Unveiled in October 2022, Quest Pro is a high-end headset designed for mixed reality and virtual reality applications targeting individual and business users.
However, MetaQuestSupport on Reddit also imparted that there are noticeable differences between the Meta Quest 3 and the Quest Pro. For one, Quest 3 will come with the highest resolution the company has crafted to date. It will have the new Snapdragon chipset that can deliver twice the graphic performance of its predecessor, paving the way for smoother performance and more defined details.
In addition, Meta Quest 3 will also have a color passthrough with 10 times more pixels, as well as a depth sensor.
Meta unveiled Quest 3 a few days before Apple introduced its version of the headset of this kind during its WWDC 2023 event last month.
Among the features of the upcoming Meta headset include the phenomenal next-generation Snapdragon chipset in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. With this feature, it can deliver better performance.
Quest 3 also features Meta’s best-in-class Meta Reality technology, allowing users to blend their physical environment with their virtual one seamlessly. Plus, the headset is also sleeker and more comfortable thanks to its 40 percent slimmer optic profile compared to its predecessor. Its Touch Plus controllers have also been redesigned.
