Winners of the Apple App Store’s Best of 2020 were revealed a few hours ago with Minecraft and Among Us taking the top spot in crucial categories. Both titles have been around for some time – Minecraft initially launched on mobile platforms almost 10 years ago and Among Us back in 2018 – but the two titles remain famous until to this day. Among Us has been specifically notable this year as its fame unexpectedly soared years after its release, catching the imagination of a lot of players.
Another huge winner in Apple’s awards was Genshin Impact, which took home the Game of the Year for iPhone devices award. The free to play title managed to catch many with its Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild ambiance despite concerns that the game’s gacha mechanics would intimidate players.
Genshin Impact is far from struggling. As a matter of fact, according to a reliable source, the game is enticingly close to an incredible financial milestone. From the game’s launch back in September to the end of November, the game reached almost $400 million dollars in profit on mobile platforms alone.

Minecraft and Among Us joins Genshin Impact in Apple’s winners’ circle winning the categories for Top Paid iPhone Game and Top Free iPhone game, respectively. This year’s awards held by Apple commemorated apps that brought people from all over the world together and gave them the ability to have fun despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Apple’s Phil Schiller discussed this in a recent press release, revealing that mobile apps were specifically impactful this year and the games in these winning categories “delivered a great escape”. Focusing on this, Among Us is accompanied in the Top Free iPhone Games category by titles such as Brain Out while Minecraft shared the Top Paid iPhone Games category with educational and trivia based games.
Players can expect to see more awards before the year ends, with many looking forward to one of the video gaming industry’s most popular award shows next week. The Game Awards 2020 will be happening on December 10 and has already revealed a few interesting news.

The organizer and host of the awards, Geoff Keighley, revealed in a Twitter post yesterday that one of the event’s presenters will be Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the recent Marvel movies and is set to play Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie.
In related news, there are also rumors that Mediatonic, the indie developer who created Fall Guys, will also have something new to share during the event. Games like Minecraft and Among Us have been incredibly crucial this year with so many gamers affected by the global pandemic. It is great to witness these games getting appreciation for that.
