Anime creators have all the license to show off their creativity, especially when viewers and fans want only the best. Perhaps you have heard about anime characters – or not just in anime, but also in movies and books – where they are shown to be evil when, deep down, they are, in fact, not.
If you are a “Naruto” fan, you may have heard about the terrorist group known as the Akatsuki. Being a terrorist group, the Akatsuki is, at first glance, evil. But, there is an ongoing debate arguing that they are actually not really evil at all. Let’s take a closer look at the Akatsuki in this discussion.
Who Are The Akatsuki?
The Akatsuki was the most feared organization in the story of “Naruto.” Initially founded by Yahiko, a shinobi – military power – in Amegakure, a hidden village, this group was later turned into a criminal organization after his death.
Feared far and wide, this group had rogue ninjas from various villages, comprising some of the strongest and most fearsome fighters in the entire series of “Naruto.”
Over the course of many decades, this group took different forms and was headed by different people. Though each iteration was perceived as criminal or subversive, its members sought to make the world a better place via their own means and abilities.
Also, each member tended to have several lairs worldwide, but they were inaccessible because of their remoteness or the harsh security measures in place to protect them.
Each member of the Akatsuki was intensely powerful and had distinctive abilities in their arsenal. It had several Kekkei Genkai users (Kekkei Genkai are abilities passed down genetically), which made them difficult to deal with. Yet, the members of this group were not equal in terms of strength. Here are the members of the Akatsuki ranked from weakest to strongest.
- Daibutsu
- Kyusuke
- Jūzō Biwa
- White Zetsu
- Yahiko
- Hidan
- Sasori
- Deidara

- Kakuzu

- Shin Uchiha

- Kabuto Yakushi

Are The Akatsuki Really Evil?
The Akatsuki weren’t all evil. While they did keep agendas or motives, many of its members simply wanted to achieve stability and peace in the world. Sadly, their methods were seen as violent and brutal, making them usually labeled as villains.
