Obsidian Entertainment was well-represented at the Xbox Series X launch, announcing three new games. It included a new Grounded launch trailer, the unveiling of Avowed, the company’s next major RPG, and the first of two DLCs for The Outer Worlds. The first new DLC, titled Peril on Gorgon, seems very impressive, with a slew of new features to boot.
Although the trailer is light on specifics, it does confirm new weapons, a new place to discover, and a few plot clues. Details such as a level limit boost, when the DLC can be begun, and more were verified shortly after The Outer Worlds debuted Peril on Gorgon.
1The Outer Worlds’ level limit will be increased by three levels, bringing the game’s maximum level to 33 and adding around 6-8 hours of gameplay. The main game’s popularity has reportedly increased the ambition of Outer Worlds’ two DLC, which could excite many fans of the game. It also has additional perks to download, a payout, and new bugs to round out the NPC further.
Though, the tale DLC is not endgame material for those who don’t have a max level or an endgame persona. The Peril on Gorgon DLC cannot be begun at the start of The Outer Worlds, but it will be available after players have completed the key quests on Monarch (roughly halfway through the game).
This most definitely means that the plot here is separate from the main game’s events and that the main game will be completed later with the new weapons and such.
Perhaps the most pressing issue right now is whether a new friend for The Outer Worlds is in the works as well. It seems doubtful, considering the film’s impending release and the fact that they might have been featured more prominently in the teaser, but it’s an intriguing prospect nevertheless.
