A new teaser for Pokémon Legends: Arceus has revealed that the game will have boss encounters, in which players must face powerful noble Pokémon, the first of which is the Hisuian regional Scyther evolution Kleavor.
Human trainers, such as Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and Champions, have frequently appeared as boss encounters in the Pokémon franchise, but players have also faced Legendary Pokémon towards the conclusion of games’ tales.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the Sinnoh region’s distant past, apparently long before the creation of the Pokémon League. As a result, boss encounters should be formidable wild Pokémon, as much of the plot appears to revolve with taming the territory so that people may safely dwell there.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus appears to be drawing much more inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than originally thought. The player character will face off against strong, noble Pokémon in battles that look to be boss bouts, according to a new video for the game on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel.
Kleavor, the Rock/Bug-type regional evolution of Scyther, is the first verified noble Pokémon. Although the version of Kleavor seen in the teaser is enormous, the player will probably be able to capture and utilize it. The player’s mountable Wydeer is likewise regarded as a noble Pokémon, according to the official Pokémon Legends: Arceus website.
Because the blades of Scyther’s body have been turned into even greater weapons, Kleavor is classified as an Axe Pokémon. Scyther’s new evolution in Pokémon Legends: Arceus makes sense, and it’s likely that it’ll be based on a lower-tech item than Scizor’s pincers, as the Metal Coat item may not yet exist in Arceus’s universe. Because this is a period with steam-powered Poké Balls, item exchange evolutions may take a lengthy time.
The notion of enormous Pokémon fighting in boss encounters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is fascinating, and it fits nicely with the concept of exploring a wild frontier. It’s unclear whether plot progression will be tied to noble Pokémon battles, akin to the Monster Hunter series’ graded hunts, or if players will be able to combat noble Pokémon when seeking for a challenge.
At the very least, bouts against noble Pokémon may offer spectacular graphics, something the Pokémon franchise has yet to achieve with its mainline games.
