The crypto market may have crashed last week, but that may not stop Nirvana fans from owning NFTs of exclusive, never-before-seen images of the legendary band playing a gig before the launch of their album Nevermind. An auction for these NFT images and artworks will be held on February 20, 2022. Taking place on Kurt Cobain’s birthday, the auction will only accept crypto.

The auction will feature 15 artworks that have never seen the light of day until now and 27 rare images created from photographs by Faith West taken on October 1, 1991. On this date, Nirvana had a concert at J.C. Dobbs in Philadelphia, six days before the band released the album Nevermind.

The images now on display in Rarible include black-and-white photos, some psychedelic color edits, and some GIFs featuring various moving pictures.

Interested parties can now check the images on Rarible, which includes black-and-white photographs of the band playing, psychedelic edits of the images, and even GIFs.

Pop Legendz, a startup company for minting music-related NFTs, is the organization behind the auction. Interested fans may have to prepare a hefty amount for the auction, though, as the collection won’t come cheap. However, fans may justify the price since the band has an incredibly high status within the rock scene.

Not to mention, the photos and artwork were never available to the public until now. The NFTs have a starting price of 1 ETH and can go as high as 67 ETH for the GIF versions. Since it’s an auction, the figures could likely skyrocket by the end of the event.

Not only will the winners receive the valuable NFT, but it will also come with a framed 16 “x24” print of one of the images from the concert with a signature from the photographer.

On the other hand, Nirvana Fan Club members have unique conditions. Specifically, 100 members can purchase the GIFs for only $499, while they’ll sell 100 images for only $99. Club members can buy with their credit cards, while the rest have to pay using crypto.

Half of the earnings from the auction will be donated to The Trevor Project, while another portion will be sent to Grid Alternatives. The former is a charity that helps LGBT+ youths prevent suicide, while the latter is an organization that provides solar panels to low-income families.
