Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Allegedly In Development

A new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic game is allegedly under development based from various sources, and the game will be coming from a gaming studio that is not EA or BioWare. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is widely considered to be one of the best uses of the Star Wars license in video gaming history, and the two titles in the franchise thus far are endeared by fans for their admiration for their source material accompanied with poignant choices, character customizations, and unique storylines.

While Knights of the Old Republic has been inactive aside from ports to other consoles, including a mobile version, there have been some developments over the years that have implied it would become a larger part of Star Wars video games in the future.

The creation of the game’s character Darth Revan as canon had players discussing about what this could mean for future games focused around the Sith Lord. With Lucasfilm revealing a few weeks ago that it would be making Star Wars video game license more open to companies than just EA, the possibility of more Knights of the Old Republic increased, though other games, like Ubisoft’s Star Wars game, have been revealed first.

According to a post from VGC that cites various sources such as Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin, there is a new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic currently in the works, and that it is being made by a gaming studio that is not EA or BioWare.

According to Bespin Bulletin, the insider found out that Jason Schreier had revealed that the game is not being created by EA, while other credible sources verified that there is indeed a new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic game in development.

While news of this new game is a big development in its own right, the fact that it is being made outside of EA and BioWare is also surprising. Supposedly, the game is being developed by a studio that is not a household brand, but that does not necessarily mean it’s being created by an odd choice – just not one that’s instantly recognizable. A new Knights of the Old Republic title from a less traditional but experienced development team might be the new start the franchise needs after its long absence in the industry.
