A game’s sales numbers may not be the only indicator of how well a title is doing, but it’s definitely a major sign that a series is successful. With that in mind, Tekken franchise producer and director Katsuhiro Harada recently announced a major sales milestone for Tekken 7, and the entire series as well.
With Tekken 7 Season 4 coming soon, many players are more than excited for the additional moves, the all-new UI adjustment, and the new ranking system that was leaked to be a part of the upcoming season.
This was leaked by Bandai Namco itself when the company posted a video showing season 4’s roadmap as well as a new character by accident. Although since that time, some official information has already been released, such as the sales numbers for the series.
Harada recently posted on his official Twitter account saying that Tekken 7 has officially reached over 6 million sales. In other words, this means that the series itself has sold over 50 million copies.
This is definitely a big deal, and it simply demonstrates to fans just how far the series has come since 1994’s Tekken 1.

On the other hand, Tekken 7 has been released for more than five years now. As such, some people might think that this isn’t a big achievement given how other games have reached more in a shorter amount of time.
Take The Last of Us 2, for instance, which sold about 4 million copies during its first weekend alone. Despite that fact, we shouldn’t underplay Tekken’s achievement, as 50 million copies for the entire series isn’t a small accomplishment either.
In any case, this is definitely great news for a game that can be played online. After all, more sales mean that a lot of people have bought the title. Consequently, this also means that this increases the chance of player availability when trying to battle online.
During this year’s Bandai Namco live stream for the Tokyo Game Show, the company revealed the all-new fighter for Tekken 7 named Kunimitsu. You can check out Season 4’s launch trailer here.
Even though Tekken 7 has been around for quite some time now, it’s great that the developers are still releasing brand-new content for the fans to enjoy. Along with the new fighter, fans can expect a bunch of UI improvements that they hope will greatly improve the overall gameplay experience for all the players.
Of course, the video game industry has so many fighting games available for gamers to choose from, such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Dragon Ball FighterZ. However, there are those gamers who still prefer Tekken 7 and all it has to offer. After all, Tekken has been around for a while, so it’s bound to have die-hard fans.
That being said, these sales numbers show us that the Tekken franchise in its entirety is doing very well. Hopefully, this will mean that Tekken 7 will have brand-new content as well as features soon.
