“Fallout 4” is, hands down, a wonderful game. But with the launch of its expected next-gen update delayed and delayed, fans are wondering if it really is a great game.
Said to release in 2023
Last-gen games receiving a current-gen upgrade have turned to become a common trend in the world of gaming, such as what happened to CD Projekt Red’s “The Witcher 3” and “Cyberpunk 2077.” Both received massive updates that take advantage of modern hardware.
Fans are expecting the same will happen to the trending “Fallout 4,” but with where it is now, things are seemingly far-fetched.
It was in 2022 when Bethesda announced it was releasing an upgrade for the game, saying it would take inspiration from “Skyrim: Anniversary Edition” in the sense this update would include better graphics and better frame rates, plus bonus features.
Several news outlets reported that the upgrade will be released in 2023. But we are almost nearing the end of 2023, so what happened?
Gamers are already getting impatient and annoyed.
Just busy with ‘Starfield’?
A Redditor named The_Only_Jason_2020 surveyed the “Fallout 4” gaming community, asking, “Whatever happened to the Fallout 4 next-gen console update the people were talking about? Just curious since I haven’t heard anyone talk about this since like around June.”
Other gamers were quick to chime in to share their ideas about this delay.
“Betting it is being saved for the Fallout TV show, and they are hoping for a Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk-like feedback loop,” one said.
Another said that the developer might just be busy with “Starfield,” which they launched last month, and assumed they would resume work after that.
“It’s likely that they will wait until the fallout TV show is out to capitalize on its hype. From a marketing perspective, they want people buying Starfield right now, so it doesn’t make sense financially to release a product that would rival it so quickly,” another said. “It sucks for us, of course, but you always have to think of what will make the most profit, and that will usually be the answer.”
“Fallout 4” is an action role-playing game set in an open-world post-apocalyptic environment that encompasses Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region called “The Commonwealth.”
The game’s main story happens in the year 2287, 10 years after the events in “Fallout 3” and exactly 210 years after “The Great War,” a war that brought catastrophic nuclear devastation across the United States.
