Fortnite continues to establish itself as one of the most ambitious video game crossovers. More and more pop culture is being reflected in the game and its remarkable array of cosmetics, from mainstream franchises like Star Wars, Street Fighter, and Rick and Morty to more odd selections like Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy novel Mistborn. Fans may now add Wonder Woman, one of the most popular superheroes, to that list.
Over the previous several years, Fortnite has collaborated with DC Comics on a number of occasions, adding characters such as Batman, Aquaman, the Flash, Harley Quinn, and others. Despite this, Epic Games has been stepping up their game recently, with the addition of Superman to Fortnite only last week. But Clark Kent isn’t the only big name from the world of comic books coming to the game this month; Epic Games has revealed that Diana of Themyscira will be available in just a few days.
Wonder Woman will be available for purchase in Fortnite’s Item Shop starting Thursday, August 19 at 8:00 a.m. EST. The Amazonian warrior will be available in two variations, with players having the option of wearing her famous basic costume or an armored version. In addition, the Wonder Woman package will contain the Golden Eagle Wings Glider, Athena’s Battleaxe, Diana’s Mantle Back Bling (which comes in two variations), and the DC Trinity Loading Screen as well as the regular assortment of extra cosmetics.
There is another way to unlock Wonder Woman for those who want to preserve their V-Bucks. On August 18, players may compete in the Wonder Woman Cup, Fortnite’s next tournament event, for a chance to win the Wonder Woman Outfit a day early. To participate, gamers will require two-factor authentication and an Epic account level of 30 or above, according to Epic Games.
Teams of two will have a limited amount of time, similar to the Teen Titans Cup, to score as many eliminations as possible in up to ten matches, with each elimination worth one point. The Wonder Woman Outfit and Diana’s Mantle Back Bling will be awarded to the teams with the highest points at the conclusion of each area, while any team with at least eight points will get the Honorary Amazons Loading Screen.
Wonder Woman joins a growing roster of DC heroes and villains that have recently been introduced to the game, including Superman, Beast Boy and Raven from Teen Titans, and Bloodsport from the upcoming Suicide Squad film. It’s been a great time to be a DC gamer, and no doubt many of them will be looking forward to looting and shooting their way across the island as Diana in a few days.
