Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is an annual information technology conference where developers can attend sessions and meet with the company’s engineers. The event also showcases the company’s new software and technologies in its iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS families, including more Apple software. This event is bound to get even bigger and grander this year.
The WWDC 2023 will once again set the tone for Apple’s future. Apple does not reveal official information about what will happen during the event until it actually presents it on the day. However, there are news and rumors about what people can expect. This year, Apple might introduce its first-ever mixed reality headset, together with a more sizeable MacBook Air, a significant watchOS update, app sideloading on iOS, and so much more. Read on for a closer look.
Apple headset
The rumored unveiling of the Apple headset may be the biggest and the most highly anticipated revelation during WWDC 2023. Speculations say that the headset will run on a new xrOS and utilize mixed reality, which merges virtual and augmented realities.
Leaks also say that Apple may incorporate sports, gaming, workouts, and iPad apps into this new headset to fault what the new platform is capable of.
Some of the headset’s rumored features are a dual 4K micro OLED displays with 5,000 nits brightness and 4000 pixels per inch; over a dozen cameras to track facial expressions and hand gestures, and map the environment; Iris scanning authentication; air typing and hand gesture-based controls; and so much more.
MacBook Air 15
Another is the revealing of the MacBook Air 15. Rumors and developer logs say Apple will launch a 15-inch MacBook Air with big-screen portable Macs more accessible for more people.
With the current-generation 13-inch MacBook Air not too old since it was launched, the rumored 15-inch version is said to keep using a variant of that system’s M2 chip. Plus, it might feature 8GB of RAM in a base configuration. Also, a higher resolution display may be present, just like the 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Brand new software: iOS 17, watchOS 10, and so much more
Aside from all those rumors about hardware launches at WWDC 2023, speculations also say Apple will provide details about the latest updates coming this year to its iOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS platforms.
One of the more significant changes with iOS is that Apple may finally add support for installing applications not downloaded from the App Store. But this sideloading of apps is challenged by European regulations.
Other software changes the company may unveil include a brand new mental health app and widgets coming back to the Apple Watch.
