A fresh leak has allegedly revealed a slew of new and forthcoming titles, including BioShock 4, which is slated for release in 2022. Cloud Chamber has revealed that the second BioShock game is under production, however official information on the game are few. The narrative, characters, and even an official title for the next BioShock game have yet to be disclosed.
The next installment in the BioShock series is the first to be produced by Cloud Chamber. Thanks to a series of job postings, fans have learned that the game will be created using Unreal Engine 5 and would have an open-world environment.
It’s unclear if BioShock 4 will be a straight sequel to any of the previous games or a brand-new adventure because the settings and people have yet to be disclosed. Many are hopeful that BioShock 4 would return to the underwater environment of Rapture with next-gen technology. Still, it’s also conceivable that the game could occur in an entirely new setting, akin to BioShock Infinite, which was hinted at in earlier job ads.
Players may not have to wait long to learn more about BioShock 4, with a release date of 2022 seeming likely. Several future and unverified titles were listed in a recent Nvidia GeForce Now service leak, including several allusions to “BioShock 2022.” (via ComicBook).
This is the first time a possible new BioShock has been linked to a release date, and while the 2022 window might be a placeholder, it has sparked suspicion that the game’s formal announcement is on the way. There are also references to “Bioshock RTX Remaster” in the stolen data, which might indicate that the original, or all of the games, would be improved.
It’s unknown if BioShock 4 will be completed in time for a 2022 release. BioShock 4 news has been scarce, aside from information obtained via Cloud Chamber’s several job postings over the previous few months. While it’s conceivable that the game is approaching completion, several still-active job advertisements hint otherwise, with many jobs indicating that the game is still a long way off.
While there are presently no additional BioShock games in production, it’s conceivable that “BioShock 2022” refers to a project unrelated to BioShock 4. “BioShock 2022” may be a remastered collection, a new-gen update, or a remake of one or all of the games. With the year 2022 rapidly approaching, BioShock fans should not have to wait long to learn more about BioShock 4, as well as the actual nature of “BioShock 2022.”
