Activision reveals ‘COD: Black Ops Cold War’ price on next-gen consoles

Activision is the second developer to commit to a $70 price for Black Ops Cold War on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Following the announcement of 2K Games, Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops standard edition will be priced at $70 for the next-gen consoles.

In a recent blog post introducing the game’s various editions, Activision slipped this information towards the end of the article. This makes Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War the second next-gen title, after NBA2K21, to have a release price of $70 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Since the studio never officially made a statement about this price increase, gamers can only hope that not all of their future games will also have a release price of $70. In the case of 2K Games, they confirmed that they will not increase all their games’ prices to the $70 mark. Instead, they chose to set their prices on a game to game basis.

However, this doesn’t mean that Activision will follow the same pricing but it would be great if they consider. The Call of Duty and NBA2K game franchises are in a similar situation here since they are their publisher’s most popular yearly game releases.

Just a few days ago, Activision made a massive announcement for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War during its Warzone reveal event. The new game is supposed to bring back cross-progression, cross-play, and an array of free content for all its players. Since the Battle Pass has been very successful in Activision’s recent games, they are going to integrate it again in the new Call of Duty game.

Aside from the return of zombies on the battlefield, the developers stated that they have more surprises for its multiplayer mode which will be revealed on September 9, 2020.
