Switch File Size for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light Now Revealed

Just last week, Nintendo announced something that shook its fanbase to its core: the very first Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, was set to release to Western fans for the first time ever.

You see, the first installment to a now-beloved franchise was only released in Japan some time in the year 1990. In a recent announcement, Nintendo has revealed to the excited fans how much space the file size will take up as well as more details about what players can expect.

According to the information found on the Nintendo Switch eShop, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light will only take up 30 MB on your Nintendo Switch console. That being said, we’re not that surprised that it only requires 30 MB, given the fact that it’s only a Switch port of the original 1990 title.

Despite its small-scale size though, the game itself has a pretty substantial amount of content. You will be able to play all 25 chapters of the original game, along with over 50 characters you can play as, and more than 20 job classes.

One thing you definitely need to know is that Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light will only be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop until March 31, 2021. In other words, this will only be a limited-time release, so you should definitely get it as soon as you can once it’s released.

There will also be a special 30th Anniversary Edition of the title. This version will contain the download code for the game, an art book, a map, as well as other collectibles that fans will want to get their hands on.

As for when it will be released for purchase, both the special and digital versions will be made available on December 4, 2020. That being said, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the 30th Anniversary Edition is already sold out. In fact, this special version sold out within minutes after Nintendo made preorders available last week.

Now, scalpers are taking this opportunity to sell their copies of the special edition for astronomical prices. The original price as sold by Nintendo cost $49.99, but the scalpers’ listings on eBay and other websites would sell for double that amount or even more.

In other news, another fandom became excited after Nintendo made the announcement that Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light will be localized for a Western release, namely fans of the classic Earthbound series.

The fact that Nintendo has once again decided to localize one of its much-older games has brought hope into the hearts of Earthbound fans. Ever since the title was released in 2006, fans of Mother’s third game, otherwise known as Earthbound for western fans, have been hoping for Nintendo to release a localized version to the west.

That being said, it’s best for fans to remain realistic and to not expect too much. It may be a good thing that the very first Fire Emblem game will finally be released to the west, but Nintendo hasn’t dropped a single hint that the company will be revisiting the Earthbound series any time soon.
