Free-to-play Battle Royale ‘Spellbreak’ Now Has Release Date

Spellbreak is a free-to-play fantasy battle royale game that we’ve been keeping tabs on for a while now since its development. During Gamescom 2020, though, we were caught by surprise to find out that the game will be released sooner than we expected. Along with their announcement is a pretty cool trailer, which you can view below:

What’s great about this cinematic trailer is the fact that it includes actual gameplay footage so that we have an idea of what to expect once we get our hands on the game. One cool feature you can look forward to is the ability to customize or build your battlemage i.e. you can choose from different classes: Frostborn, Conduit, Pyromancer, Toxicologist, Stoneshaper, or Tempest.

What’s more, there’s less hassle for you if you play on different platforms. This is because whatever customizations you’ve made to your character on – let’s say – your Nintendo Switch, these same settings will reflect on the PC version of Spellbreak if you choose to play there instead.

It’s understandable though if gamers have gotten quite tired of the battle royale genre since there’s been a lot of that recently. However, Spellbreak has a perk that other battle royale games do not, and that’s magical combat.

As the official website states, you aren’t limited to just one element:

“A mighty battlemage isn’t limited to just one ability. Seize hold of two powerful magic gauntlets and blend devastating spell combinations to control the battlefield with fiery tornadoes, electrified gas clouds, and more!”

You can explore the map and find tactical ways to use the area to your advantage in order to defeat other players. Just like other games, you also have the chance to open up chests and pick up items that you can use to your advantage.

Spellbreak is scheduled to launch on September 3, so you don’t have to wait that long to try out this brand-new battle royale experience!
